when selecting amp\sub's what is ideal? ive seen alot of the package deals dont match them propelry, the rms handling is usilay 100 watts RMS under, but still meats the peak value, will that just mean it will kick alot more more often becuase its up over it's designed handling, because i'm not truly looking for kick as much as i am quality. these are the parts i'm thinking about

or if i'm looking for quality would i want to be looking into dual coil subs perhaps? they take up more space which isn't completely an issue but if i can get slim line and still keep the quality i'm looking for it's ideal :)

also with the duel coil's would i need a true 2 channel amp, or would i be able to hook it up with this amp, and use all 4 of the conections? would that mean i'm splitting it down the middle 200 watts per coil on the sub also?

a dual coil sub allows you different wiring options is all. your dual 2 ohm sub your looking at will only be able to be wired into a 4 ohm load which is fine but if you want the full rms power that amp offers then get the a dual 4 ohm sub. so you can wire it to 2 ohms to benefit the amps 2 ohm power output.

thats a good price on that amp too, nice find. if you can you should make your own box.

what vehicle is this for? since your looking at a slim sub i assume its for a small truck or a small import maybe?

it's going in a small susuki sedan. it has the room for a large box, but I have to accualy keep things in my trunk for work. tools and such. I've already cracked sub heads lol thats why i always install guards now :p

so I should install this sub http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9157_Rockford+Fosgate+Punch+P3SD412+Shallow-mount.html

? how would i wire this up for a 2 ohm configuiration, i dont understand the logic, if it's 4 ohm's its 4 ohm's, :-\ i went to school for electrical machanics, so electricity isn't a strange concept to me, but that makes no sense to me. but its been awhile since ive practiced any electrical logic so maybe it does make sense :\

no, no....its DUAL 4 ohms. there are 2 coils. so wired in parallel you get 2 ohms. series would be 8 ohms.

the picture of that kicker says 4 ohms on the speaker :-\ could be a missprint on the site. >_< I don;'t wanna get stuck with the wrong amp.

so if i hook amp like this the duel coil sub i orgiognaly chose like this, i will get 2 ohms?

so basicly, it's just puting jumpers across, I don't accualy have to run 4 lines from the amp? or would that result in each coil geting 200 watts :\ I mean it's not a duel channel amp, but their are 4 outs as if it is.

the sub may say 4 ohms on it because both look exactly the same. its cheaper to post the same pic for each sub. advertising pics aint cheap im sure.

like i said either a single 2 ohm sub or a dual 4 ohm sub will yield you a 2 ohm load to the amp to get the most out of it.

if you must use the prefab box the rockford sub will work with it as its within the subs specs.

meh id ont really feel like building one.

i think so. have you looked for that sub elsewhere? im sure you may be able to find it cheaper.

or keep looking for one that will work in that small of a box.

yeah, subs seem to be on the highside, but equitments on the lowside on this site. I finily got around to removing my old equitment so now my car has no sub right now :( sounds horid, and my speakers can't handle bass boost with the amp they sound like hell lol

    edit -

alright, I think i've picked the perfect sub thats an apsolute perfect match for the amp ive chosen.

    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9105_Rockford+Fosgate+Punch+P3D412.html

and I did a little research on how to wire subs for dif arrays and duel coils and such, and I plan to wire this particular sub in this arrangment.

the only thing that makes no sense to me is, that their is no follow through on the conection, for a ciruict to make sense..posative needs to meet up with negtaive, but when you wire it like that. your just creating 2 coils, are they interenatly some how conected. I don't understand how it's working :\

they are being wired together in parallel. thats how that works.

divide 2 coils by 4(ohms) and you get 2 ohms, series is opposite. multiply the 2 coils by 4(ohms). = 8 ohms.

those are the 2 ways to wire that configuration of coils.

once you master that you can wire a whole mess of subs together to create a load that will not harm your amp.

you can get 3 more and still have a total of 2 ohms at the amp.
