Hey Everyone, I have a question that did not find much help in the forum search. I currently have an AGU 100amp fuse but I keep burning the fuse and when the fuse burns that I go to replace it, the case itself burns making it impossible to remove the fuse. Then I have to replace the fuse and the holder. Well I need some suggestions, I spoke to a few people and they tell me to get an ANL fuse that ranges about 200amp-250amp and I should be fine. Can anyone give me some suggestions on which fuse and fuse holder should I get, a good brand and even a website would help. Thanks in advance. Yes indeed, DO go with an ANL type fuse! They handle current flow better and provide a much better contact area for connections. But the reason you are "melting" the agu type fuse is twofold, low voltage with excessive current flow and the fact that an agu fuse really isnt much good for more than 50 amps (in my opinion), again, this is due to lack of surface area for the electrical connection. This causes resistance in the connection, which in turn causes heat, which in turn melts your fuse holder and wont blow the fuse. And again, as always, be sure that your Batt/alt/amps are PROPERLY grounded and sufficient gauge wire is used.. heres a link to some i found at random http://www.carstereoexpo.com/anlfuse.html Might I also suggest this while I am at it. Look for them locally at an industrial electrical wharehouse, reason is, they are sometimes cheaper, and the fuse holders are far better than cheesy little plastic jobs with crap gold plating on them. Thats the way I always used to get them. And besides, I always liked the "industrial look" under the hood more so than the girlie gold this n that!
