OK! Here is what is going on. I don't know much about subs or amps or how they work. All I know is that my friend gave me his that a friend gave him. He didn't understand how it worked either so he gave up and let me have it. It has a box that it came in. I believe it is for a house audio system because of the power cord.
On the back there are 4 plug in's avalible:
    1) "Input" (a regular audio cable like for headphones)

    2) "To Right Speaker" (it has 2 holes on the bottom, 4 in the middle, 3 on the top; below is a close illistration;)
    .. .
    ....
    ..

    3) "To Left Speaker" (looks like "input" cord, but its deep in the hole with a shape around the outside of the hole like in the illistration below)
    __
(__) obviously i couldnt get the top or bottom to connect with the parrenthesis

    4) "DC 15V + -(o- -" (the "-(o-" is one whole thing. the -( are connected with the "(" more of a C shape. the "o-" is a filled in o with the line connecting. the + before and the last - are regular plus and minus signs.)

please help me. :( I dont know what im doing. I have another friend of mine who might give me his sisters old amp. Is there anyway i could put this in my car? if so, how?

it has a power cord coming out of it? then its a powered home theater sub.

put up a pic or two so i can be sure.

oh and BTW, if you dont know what you are doing. its better to read up a bit before you tackle any in car projects. you dont learn this over night you know.

if you enjoy car audio then pick up a magazine or two to learn more. even the internet has great sites that will teach you stuff.
    http://www.bcae1.com/ read up a little.

Your home electrical is 120V A/C @60 hz, your cars electrical system is 12V. I think you will need a step up transformer (dont quote me on that). Unless its a really badass subwoofer (supernova, velodyne) its probably not worth the hassle, but that is for you to decide.

Thanks Pedro. I think I'll read up a bit before tackling more than I know(which is little). I'd perfer doing everything myself than buying stuff and paying a guy $100 to do it when I am capable of doing it myself. I already put in the new radio myself with no issues.
    Thanks
