Free air or sealed enclosure?

    How do I determine if a 6.5" mid-bass driver is best suited for IB (free air) or in a sealed enclosure?

    I would think that the manufacturer would say what the driver was intended for.

    Most car audio components are designed to work in freeair situations (such as your door..) but will also work fine in sealed a appliciation such as kickpods

    I prefer sealed myself, but you gotta watch out for making them too small, itll yield you a peaky midrange response. If they are kicks, Ive heard people say that cutting a small hole in the back to port it into the carpet will cut down on the peaked response.
