OK so my 1976 BMW has room in the rear deck for an 8" sub. The trunk is completely sealed from the passenger compartment. I have been doing some research and the consensus is that free air subs generally do not give tight bass...kinda un-accurate boomy bass....not what I like...I like nice tight punchy bass. I want accurate with nice lows, nothing ground rattling. Really just want to add the low end to a component setup and be done with it. So what are my options? Are there any good Free air setups? I also dont want to add a bunch of weight to the car as I love to carve the canyons and the handling is amazing. 75 pounds of woofers over the rear end isnt good for the handling so I'd love a low weight solution as well.

I have one pretty nice 15in free air specific sub that sounded pretty nice off of 400 watts.

I would say it depends upon the sub. I don't think all free air sound boomy. You could make a small sealed enclosure for the 8" and still mount it on the rear deck and box it in. It wouldn't need that much space at all.
