well guys, im planning on getting 4 mtx 10''s subs soon. dont know if they will be dvc or svc but im imiganing they will be 4ohms. i was just wanting to get some ideas on how to power them, should i power each one with its own smaller amp or power all 4 with 2 perty good sized amps. i listen to every kind of music out there, do i want to port the box/s or leave them sealed. its going in the back of a ext. cab ford ranger. should i build my own box or what? also they will be used but in good condition when i get them lemm know what yall think
if you got 4 ohm svc, you could wire all four into 1 ohm. So you could just get one Good amp that will do the rated rms to run all four. I would suggest sealed, and hell yeah dude, build your own! its not hard, especially with a sealed box.
yea 94 ive never built one but im sure it aint that bad. when i build it its all gonna be 1 big box, another question is, when i build it do i build a seperate chamber for each sub or run 1 big chamber? any idea on how many cubic feet for a sub on a guess maybe. i know 94 you got a slick looking f150 and im really digging that box for them kickers you made.
i always run seperate chambers when i do a sealed box with multiple subs, just for the fact that if one of them fails, it doesn't throw the others out of sync. Plus the dividers add support for the box also, but thats my personal preference. And just to guess, i would say give each chamber about .75 cubic feet or so for a 10. Thanks on the ride and the box man, just to show what a lil bit of hard work and determination can do. You will be way more proud of it too if you did it yourself.
yea. im a ford fan too. im slowly but surely making small upgrades on my ranger. i aint got no pics but ill get some ventually. i guess i got a few of when i got stuck lol. but when i get the 10''s ill build a box myself. thanks for the info.
how much room are you willing to sacrifice with these 4 10's? if you have enough room to spare i would do a ported box because it will be wayy louder.
johnny, im willing to sacrafice the whole extended cab part of my ranger. i really dont like messing with ported boxes for one reason...i dont know how to tune em lol. i really like the way my sealed 12'' sounds so i think ill stick to my sealed 10''s when i get them.
we got many people here to help you with the designing part. but if you wanna go sealed, go sealed. just my personal preferance of being louder. you can make a ported box these days that sounds just as good as a sealed box though.
there are some online programs. also a formula you can use. but i forgot that. i just used the one on the 12volt.com when i did my old box. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#rec
