Ok I have an 87 camaro with t-tops, I want to start working on building a system, but i am confused with all the numbers, ohms etc. If i get two 225watt RMS subs, with dual 4ohm voice coils, what kind of Amp setup should i use, I was suggested a mono AMP but im not sure exactly what to look for. Also if i want to push 4 70-150watt RMS MBquart speakers on a 4channel amp, what kind of amp should i look for(watts etc?). Any help here on explanation of how the numbers work etc would eb very helpful, thanks.
Someone should make a sticky thread to answer this. Id answer but ive got to run to work, im sure someone will give you some good advice.
Well first what are you looking for in your new system upgrades?? How much money can you spend??? Sound quality system?? SPL system?? Simple system??? Fuking beatin the block waking up neighbors who don't even live by you system?? Naked??? There are endless capabilities...depends on how deep your pockets are
i got a 4 channel alpine 240, I'd like to get rid of that if you want it. It's still in my car and it works fine, but i want all JL parts in my car.
Ibanez...you know anywhere I can get all the T/S Parameters for an old school 12 W6 dual 6 ohm subwoofer....Got one left...cardboard ring is in good shape...gonna build a box for it but have no info to plug into WinISD
4 channel is only good for speakers. never use those on subs. but for 4 speakers a 2channel 450-500 watt amp would be perfact. mono amps i believe are the best for subs just bridge it. what music do you listen to? what price range do you plan on spending? what subs are you getting?(size, type) what speakers you wanting? the amp will depend on the type of speakers and subs.
This was the first system I ever installed, it was in my 89 Z28, I used fosgate 4x6 punch plates in the dash, Polk audio seperates in a kick pod. Boston 6x9 in the rear seat area and 2 12 inch Fosgate series ones for the subs. Was running 2 Soundstream reference 500s for the whole system. The Camaro is a great car to install an audio system, the car is very easy to take apart and put back together again. The choices of companies today are huge compared to what i had back then, you should have an outstanding system when you are finished. Have fun!!
