I recently purchased a 2004 lincoln ls, I would like to change the factory rear amp to get more kick out of the factory subs but also mantain the rear sensor function in the rear bumper, along with keeping the factory head unit since it is a 6 disc changer, any help would be really appreicated. thanks
Your stuck with the factory Ford amp. Unless you are very knowledgable on how to interface into factory equipment, forget it. One major difference is how Ford feeds an audio signal to there amps, each input has audio on it and it is at 6.5 volts. Aftermarket amps won't like that. The shield lead is ground (actually floated slightly above ground to reduce noise). The factory Ford amp has a limiter circuit on it to protect the cheaply made woofer. An aftermarket amp will destroy it in short order. If you really want more bass, use a Line Level Adapter off the factroy sub. Use it to send audio to an aftermarket amp and add your own sub in the trunk. Now because Ford limits audio to the factory sub, the aftermarket sub will also be limited, so get atleast a 12-inch to compensate. We have a saying "trash in trash out" which means your factory signal will be amplified but it will still be limited by the factory circuits. But it still will be an improvement. Because I've been here before, I highly recommend you use a Soundgate Line Level Adapter if you come off the subwoofer audio. If you decide to come off any other speaker (not the sub) any LOC will work.
Thanks for the info., you would not happen to have a wiring diaghram for coming off the amp would you?
