I have 2 tanks on my 88 Ford F-150, this problem just started. When my second tank is full (and I am switched over to the second tank) the fuel gauge needle will go way past the full mark, like it is registering a quarter tank past the full mark. Then after I have been driving for a while the needle will bounce around like crazy and then after I have driven about 30 miles the needle will stop bouncing around and settle where I would guess the actual fuel level is. Any ideas as to what I should do to fix this problem?
does the front tank register? Does it have the electrical selector valve? Does your front tank ever seem to overflow while the truck is running?
Nope, front tank is just fine, that is one of the first things that I wonder if the problem was connected to, the typical problem with the fuel tank selector with my year of F-150. But it just seems to have problems with the rear tank. I can't figure out where to start to fix it.
