Lol well i blew the top off of my box technically last night teaching my sisters boyfriend how to tune in his subs via the amp... so the box that iam currently using had a plastic cover on the from, that i took off because i didnt really understand why it was there.. (other than to protect the speaker faces) so the front is set into the box itself about three inches, and the two subs sit on that piece of MDF (1/2 inch) that's just set in, the top of wich is now loose and flexing with hard hits, it lets a good bit of air out, resulting in some really flubbery bass, think i can tack the top down with 4-6 screws until i can get a job and afford another box?
that's the problem with prefab boxes, they don't use 3/4' MDF. you can try to screw it down and see if that will do anything. you may want to put some silicone inside to seal it up again.
ya i was going see if i cant squeeze some dap or just silicone into it from the front and then tack it down and hope it holds.
i don't think putting silicone on the front will do much though, you'll have to take the subs out and do it from the inside. put screws 2" apart from eachother and that should hold it down for the time being.
Haha I'm pretty sure the front piece of plastic makes the box a bandpass enclosure. By removing it you made it an even crappier small uncorrectly tuned ported box.
LMAO, the box was thrashed when i got it, the plastic piece was cracked a slight bit, and two of the upper screws lost grip so they flubbered hard, now they just flubber harder. i just need to get a new box.
