Actually that's not XBL^2 though. It is very similar to the design JBL uses. Adire was clear in their patent that XBL^2 had the flux flowing the same direction on both gaps.

XBL^2 wasn't mentioned once. Where did that come from?

    Just dual gap technology.

I was just wondering who else is using dual gap not necessarily XBL^2.

JBL is another I guess. Have a link?

    where's it say it's a dual gap?

Unless the metal rings have a somewhat smaller diameter than the mag, it's a single gap. Looks pretty though.

I guess I was making a distinction and didn't do it very well. Sorry about that.

    Here's the link.

Here's one Kenwood has had out for several years.

Then of course there is DEI/PPI/Orion's dual gap setup.

Stephen, It is a good distinction to make. Especially when patent time roles around, but I was just looking for stuff besides xbl^2 because that's the one everyone around here knows about. ;)

But it's been brought up so, the main difference is the energy setup doesn't allow for the voice coils to switch gaps right? Along with what you mentioned.

    Thanks for the links.

Jeff it says dual gap in the link. In this picture.

It is just like JBL's design - which I thought they had patented (the DDD motor architecture ;)).

It's a very good design also, in terms of performance...
But it's very expensive to implement, as shown in their GTi subs. ;)

This Veritasi implementation looks more economical, simpler, but still essentially the same as what I had believed JBL to hold the patent on.

Interesting... it would be fun to give them a listen. B)

I brought it up because a friend just bought a pair and he says they are amazing!

He isn't known to have a super keen ear though and I have listened yet.
