somebody should call me and tell me something. i'm getting pretty tired of this Elemental Designs bullshit. :ban: bout to cancel the whole deal. :bash: but i want a secondary plan in place first.
Are you waiting for an Elemental driver? What are you getting? I'll give you a reason to switch to Adire...
13Kv2 + Nine.2 amp I doubt you can give me a reason to switch to Adire, with my budget. The price on the combo was TOO good. Plus, it's not so much the driver i need, it's the amp. I'm thinking of cancelling and putting the money into two amps and/or components, but i can't use those for awhile, so that can wait. However, i've already paid for the pre-order. Months ago. PLUS an enclosure which has'nt been built yet... which is good, as it can be tailored around whatever. But as i said, the bang for the buck is hard to beat, despite the wait... but i'm at, or damn near, the end of my patience.
Seth... Gonz bought my quad-isobaric 6th order bandpass project... which only needs about a 400w amp (that's it's collective RMS rating for the little subs). And I think that's also primarily what he's waiting on... any good suggestions?
4 ohms... the subs are wired series/parallel inside. I think the amp he was buying was 100x2 or 150x2.. bridged to 400x1 at 4 ohms.
yes, a supposed 400x1@4ohm however, at this point, that could well be specs pulled from someone's ass. we don't know. I will say that i've heard good things about their components, but rebadging CDT shit does'nt say much, i guess. Certainly says nothing bout the amps. Too much bad, and not enough good, since i sent them my cash. The pre-order was $220 i believe, and i sent $25 to cover shipping. So i have $245 in someone's hands who is claiming theres a worldwide shortage of steel.
I may have something for you, but I need to check. You say you don't care about the driver, but the amp is what you are after? Is this the pre-order that was for July 1 and was a "sure thing"... the one that was not going to be billed untill shipping?

By the very nature of the term "preorder," nothing is a "sure thing." As for not being billed, I don't think people are billed if they pay by CC. If they pay via Paypal or a MO, I'm not sure how it would work. He can cancel anytime, however, by emailing eD. With that said, I'm not a huge fan of preorders. It really has gotten people excited, but I'm not exactly thrilled about the delays. Of course, assuming the products come out soon and do well, people won't care much...just like the past. I sure as hell hope these products are around for a couple years, or at least very similar ones.
Having an ED rep come in and correct you every time you poke fun sure does take the fun out of it. :baby:
Not at all. Chad and I poke fun at each other all the time... We've cyber-known each other for 4 years or so now Chad... you know I'm gonna give you some shit right... Aren't there other countries in the world that produce steel? Or is it simply that Ed wants to use the absolute cheapest materials available to ensure the continuing level of quality of their products

It's China that is the leading EXPORTER of the world's cheapest steel! I have friends at Sandvik (of Sweden) as well, the best steel manufactured in the world... and there are no shortages, according to this company, in the world market. Because i've looked into the steel market at current conditions, and because one of my other hobbies deals extensively with steel (knives and knife making) I'm truly skeptical, to say the very least. And there has been NO WORD on the amps whatsoever. July 1st, July 15th, July 26th, dates have all passed. What, is there a worldwide shortage of PCB boards or capacitors too? Let me know whats up Seth. I'd deal with you anytime. In fact, i may only deal with you and Geo, from now on. Since he recommends you, i'd never hesitate B) You are correct, the driver does'nt really matter. Geo's ISO Bandpass is fantastic. However the amp i'm running it with is sorely lacking. I could use two amps actually, that's what i'm planning. I may let the pre-order ride for awhile just to see what happens. IF it ever gets here, it should be worth the money. Fact is, just to clarify, i paid Elemental Designs with a bank check via USPS mail so i have more recourse should my stuff never arrive. So yes, it's already paid.
saying china ran out of steel is like saying there is no water in the ocean :lmfao: :lmfao: Total BS, and if that is what Elmental is saying, I am going to rethink my Position on Defending them

[post=20711]Quoted post[/post][/b][/quote] Actually, that's correct. It all does come from China. My bad there. I honestly don't know what the deal is with the steel, other than Ben had problems getting it. As for paying via a check, I guess eD would have to take the money up front. I recommend people use CC's.
Perhaps it is a particular blend of steel or some steel alloy that is tight in supply? Just a guess...
at this point, there should not no problems get any kind of Metal uniless they are making them out of a Rare Metal like Platium, Which I highly Highly Doubt..... Considering the Price Point I would Veture to say they are going to be Used "common" amplifier Materials, so if there was a shortage we would be seeing other Manufacturers with the same problem
We're talking both basket steel, as well as the amplifiers... not just one or the other. I have a feeling it's a lack of money, NOT a lack of ANY sort of materials. If you can't buy your product up front, you certainly can't deliver it. When i heard of the pre-order, it was mid-May. I paid by June 1st. July 1st it was supposed to be in my hands. We're going into 4 months now, at least. (i don't know when pre-oder began) Is there *anything on this planet* that you could'nt recive (partswise) with 4 friggin' months of notice? If steel demands were THIS bad... how the hell are they making cars anymore? seems like an awful lot of bullshit, IMO. Delays i can understand. Like.. a week or two, no problem. But a month or two? C'mon now. At least have the dignity to tell the public exactly whats going on. That's whats getting to me most, it's all very shady. Ain't no boat from China taking three months to get here, and parts are not in any sort of supply dilemma.
