i have an ipod adapter for my system, and it sounds fine.not cd quality, but hey with 600+songs thats alot of cd's to fumble through.
You can make near CD quality MP3 for your Ipod, last time I talk about this, it got violent. So I will recommend this site to learn more. http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showforum=55
lol, oh man I apologize Ranger, I wish i could take it back, it was stupid of me, I'm actually an easy going person, was just getting frustrated because i could see where you were going with it and I went through the whole MP3 thing about 3 years ago so I already knew the outcome. Was just wanting to go through it with you to show you what i knew about it. If your still interested in doing your backup as dvds i would be glad to help. Also I'm struggling quite a bit with my current situation in Life ! lol so that didn't help things. Again I apologize, i did enjoy talking with you about it.
so what your saying is when i rip my cd's or anything make sure there 192 quality. but my main question was does it lose quality from the eclipse ipc-106? or your saying no, it matters on what quality the song is on my ipod?
The Ipc-106 is a real interface, the sound quality will actually be quite good as long as the MP3 file sounds good. The only problem I had with my interface and Ipod initially was that it wasn't at the same volume as the Radio or CD player. I solved this problem by adjusting the volume of the MP3 files using a program called MP3 Gain. Other than that minor problem, I use the Ipod almost Exclusively. Since I got the interface (Christmas Present in 2005), I have not looked back. I just need a bigger Ipod (mines just a 2GB Nano)
The Ipod will handle .acc, .AIFF, .wav and MP3. (I'm gonna double check that list) You now control the volume with your stereo. The Ipod Controls will no longer function when its attached to the interface. (some interfaces will allow some control from the Ipod as an option). I should have ask but didn't, are you using I-Tunes? If so there is an option in it that will allow you to adjust the volume if you need to. Load a couple of songs to test it out. See what happens
I use Anapod Explorer for all my Ipod tasks. I don't like I-tunes, I installed it and it hijacked all my music and video files. I then removed it. Anapod Explorer is a good program with horrible tech support, I don't recommend it. If you had a working copy on your hard drive that stopped working, I have a hack that will make it work again. Red Chair Software Tech support won't help you, once they have your money they could careless. EphPod is a free download and it is also a good program. I have used it in the past , with good results. The only downside to doing things this way is that I use different programs for different tasks. Big Deal!! I rip music to the computer using Audiograbber with a Lame encoder. I can adjust volume levels using MP3 Gain. If its a downloaded song, I use Blaze Media Pro to change format or bitrate. While this seems like a lot of work, its not. Most of the music I own is on my Hard Drive, already adjusted in folders so that I can easily load the Ipod.
