Well I am gonna get ready for the next couple of steps in my truck install...

Right now I have the back seat out and most of the back trim panels off...I am seriously thinking about getting that ice/water shield membrane from Menards to use as a poor mans dynamat......Just need some opinions as to what you guys think...I have never used any of this stuff....

Is it worth it? Will this stuff basically do what dynamat does?? It is much much cheaper....My next step in the truck install is to replace the rear speakers....If I am gonna use this stuff to treat, now is the time.....

I figured that everything from the rear of the front door jam all the way back and around the sliding window, back wall, etc....and even on the exposed floor board area.....Then when I pull door panels off to do front speakers, the doors would get done too.....

My plans for the rear wall/amp rack is this.....
With the sheet metal exposed on the rear wall, I am going to apply liquid nails and run an upper and lower rail and glue it to the raised parts of the back wall. I plan to use like a 1x4....This will give me plenty of area along the top and bottom of the amp rack board to screw into the 1x4 underneath....if I treat, I figure glueing the wood in place should be first, since I don't want membrane to be between the wood and the sheet metal....I figured I would apply membrane to the 1x4 so it is between the amp rack and the 1x4.....

The air gap between the lower metal parts and the rasied panel parts should be enough for me to run my wires into and out from behind the amp rack panel and the air gap between the 1x4 and amp rack should be enough for connecting all the wiring between components on the amp rack.....

I plan on running the wiring from the sides and along the bottom, over to the place where they must come up to connect to components. I plan on running power, 2 sets of RCA's, remote turn on and speaker wire on one side and the other speaker wires (for the other side front door) on the other side...I will mount all components on amp rack and connect everything that I can before installing....Like the speaker wire run from the front stage amp to the input of the crossovers and the power and ground and remote turn on wires that run between distro and amps.....Right now I have 8 ga. power and ground, but I am gonna replace it with 4 ga and use the 8 ga between distro and amps with the 4 ga feeding the distro.....I also plan on upgrading the big three and getting a HUGE cap (nah, just kidding about the cap as I know it is short for CRAP) Ha ha...

i personally would never use that water and ice shield...I am goin to use eDead on my truck...even though I was the one that suggested Water and Ice shield a while back lol

the W and I will not be as effective as edead or dynamat....but I will never recommend Dynamat...rip off.

Either edead, second skin, or fat mat has had good results

    Elemental Designs

the have a scratch and dent sale for the cans of v3. Just enter "edftw" during checkout...this is only a limited quantity so I would call them first and see if they have many left.

Too much prep work...I don't feel like using a heat gun or letting it sit out in the sun for a few hours to get hot and stickey to make sure it sticks.

    I see.....

I watched the video on eDead....looks very easy to work with.....

I just am not real sure how much of it I would need to order to do what I need......

When I felt some of it at the store (the ice/water shield) it seemed as if it would adhere very good right out of the box......Chances are I would be doing it outside and it is pretty warm here right now....I think I would be ok in the way of it sticking.....hmmmm.....I will have to think about it....was hoping to dive into it tomorrow.....Would have to order the eDead stuff...

Ok.....I bought the stuff from Lowe's.....I put the first piece on....Just a small piece to check it out.....I did it on my lunch a little bit ago....When I get off work in a little bit, I am gonna put more on....I don't think it is as easy to work with as the eDead stuff, but I think it is gonna work out fine....I still need to smooth it out a little, but it sticks great, don't think that will be a problem...

Also in the pictures, the amp rack board is sitting kinda in place....I was trying to get an idea where to glue my boards on....I think I am gonna have to mount all the components and figure out exactly where all wiring is gonna run so no boards get in the way.....

Will get more pics as I go....

Here are a couple of the pillars in the back with new 4x6 mounted....I think the stuff is gonna do a nice job...As you can see, it don't lay nice like eDead probably would....The sticky stuff gets on the razor knife when you cut it...In the end, we will see if it was worth the money saved...I am sure the eDead stuff is much much easier to work with.....This stuff was $60.00 for 108 sq feet.....Not bad, just not as nice to work with....I think I gotta find my wallpaper roller at home and go over all the areas...It tends to bubble too....It is all gonna be hidden so I guess it will be ok...It will surely make for a quieter area when all is done...
