are there certain subs that work better or last longer downfired...or does the downfiring matter for the life and sounds of the sub...im just asking because ive heard certain subs lose sq if the are downfired because of being upside down

Subwoofer position does not matter to the sub. it dont know, and it dont care, once the amp is turned on, the amp controls the cones movement. from silence to the lowest octaves, the amp makes the cone move to where it needs to be. AANY sub will work in ANY position.............PERIOD

Now. LONG term usage..........YEARS, i have seen a the cones settle into a different position, bu the end result is that they still perform like they should and as long as the amp is doing its job (dampnig factor) it wont ever be an issue....

Bottom line, dont worry about it......
