It seems that the amps these days are so huge(dimensions). Back in the '90s I had a few that were physically small. I remember an AutoTek Bass Thrust Series. I think it was rated at 15x2@4 ohms and 30x2@2 ohms RMS. It was too small for subs, but it really rocked running 4 Pioneer 6X9s in the rear deck of a Ford LTD. Very loud and good sound quality when used with a HP crossover about 70Hz. It was probably about 5x7x1 inch. I also remember a little Kenwood that would fit just about anywhere-it was about 30 or 40x2RMS. What a fool I was for selling them! With today's technology can't they make amps smaller instead of larger?? The only ones I've seen lately that are not too big on the width are Boss and Pyramid, but I'd like something better than those.
amps are a lot stronger than what they were back in the days. i think it would be pretty hard to pack nearly triple the power into an amp that is 5x7x1...but a few people do make smaller than the normal run of the mill amps, such as alpine pdx series, jl audio hd, etc..also mmats makes some very small amps for their power to size.
