    I got some alpine type-r 12's the other day, they say "dual 4 ohms", heres the specs

    Alpine SWR-1242D 12" Dual 4 Ohms Type R Series Subwoofer
    Power Handling:
    Peak: 1500 watts
    RMS: 500 watts
    Impedance: Dual 4 ohms

    I got a boss audio class d mono amp, heres the specs model#R1400D
    Product Features: Amplifier Type: Mono Channel; Number Of Channels:1
    PEAK power at 1 Ohms: 1400 W x 1;
    RMS Power at 2 Ohms: 800 W x 1;
    RMS Power at 4 Ohms: 500 W x 1;
    Bridgable: Not Bridgable;
    3 Way Ready : No;

    Can someone help me figure out the best way to wire these up to my boss amp?

    you need to wire them like this

    1_4ohmDVC_2ohm.png

    this will run 2ohm being 800watts from your amp. the subs imo would handle this, you can obviously turn the level to suit.

    only other way to wire is to 8ohm and this would likley trip your amp or run at very low wattage, around 200 watts

    edit:

    re read your post, cant figure if you have one or two subs,

    2_4ohmDVC_1ohm.jpg

    try here for the wiring you need,
    http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp

    but running two 2x4ohm subs wired to one amp will run at 1ohm so would be running 1400ws so sould run ok either way above

    Oh i see now, so if I wire them like in the picture then that will give me a 1 ohm load and my boss r1400d amp will be able to push these speakers better right? also, I know Boss Audio is garbage for amps, and thats what I have right now pushing these Type R 12's, but I found this amp locally in my area for around $180 its a Rockford Fosgate R1000-1D

    PRIME Series Single-Channel Monoblock Class D Car Amplifier
    RMS Power Rating:
    4 ohms: 500 watts x 1 chan.
    2 ohms: 1000 watts x 1 chan.

    Will this amp push these type-r's better then that boss audio amp, and is Fosgate's Prime Series amps any good??

    it would yes, so long as its 1ohm stable and you series wire them,

    but 500w per sub is more then enough for the type r's

    whats the modol number on the sub?

    Then yes id run them on that amp if it 1ohm stable. Then they would punch nicely.

    Ok, but my current amp says this, the boss audio amp I have them hooked up too...

    Product MPN
    MPN: r1400d
    Key Features
    Amplifier Type: Mono Channel
    Bridgable: Not Bridgable
    RMS Power at 4 Ohms: 500 W x 1
    RMS Power at 2 Ohms: 800 W x 1
    3 Way Ready : No
    Number Of Channels: 1

    so does this mean its not 1 ohm stable?

    it dosnt show 1ohm so no. but heres how you should wire for 2 ohm so it runs 800 watts.
