Well I finally decided for sure that I'm changing subs. (and cars ) I want 2 15s and when I graphed up the XXX 15 next to the Brahma they were basically the same except the Brahma would like the smaller box with the power I'm gonna give it (1200 watts each) What is the difference between a Mark I and Mark II Brahma... I know the 12 spoke basket and cosmetic changes. But does it perform a good deal better? Is it worth around $200 more for the 2 Mark II rather than 2 mark I's? (can get the Mark I for around $300) Thanks
mostly.....besides looking much better..... COOLING...is the greatest advantage... the rest of the features are not that interesting to me personally. The 12 spoke has greater cooling by far ... so MarkII will be better suited for wang.....either is great but given the choice...i say MarkII for better overall handling of itself...
Thanks Marshall, Will that cooling make a difference really at all besides minor increases in performace? $200 is a lot extra money
if you intend to push the brahma and get on it kinda hard...i will push the extra cooling..dispite what anybody may tell you...it helps the brahma... the only cooling on the 4 spoke...is through the spider and pole vent... The 12 has the spider, the vent and then basket has vents all the way around it at the base of the motor... I noticed a difference imediately when i used them they can just flat out, take more abuse per say.... shouldn't abuse them at all but it does indeed help if you got aloud streak in you...
Seth sent me some pictures of the tinsel leads.. it looks as if those have changed as well.. the tabs now come straight out to the sides where they attach. No doubt in the continuing efforts of providing lead-slap free operation, something that was an issue with some MkI, gen-1 drivers. The MkII's also have a screw-down terminal block on them now, where the MkI's had a spring terminal. I'm neutral like Switzerland on that change. I believe the MkII also has a domed dustcap, which I think looks cooler.. but that's personal taste, there's no accounting for that.

[/b][/quote] But see now you make me want the Mark IIs But if I ever spend that much for 15s it'll be on XXXs not Brahmas. I'm just trying to keep it around $700 That'd be sweet if I could get some XXXs for 320 each
Also of note is the added BL and ability for greater excursion. FS climbed slightly as well with the new drivers making them a bit punchier than the MKI. Their bigger basket also seems to reduce (actually eliminate) all mechanical driver noise I heard the the MKI as well. It is audibly louder too. As Marshall mentioned, it cools way better as well. Reduced compresion is a big bonus when slamming the drivers. All along I have stated the Brahma is going to be the last sub I get for a long time. I was wrong, The Brahma MKII is... or wait, there may be a Brahma MKIII, or IV, or... It is a vastly improved driver IMHO. They just keep getting better B)
Damn it seth you're making me want them now But If I spring for that much for subs it'll be on XXXs... + I can get used XXX 15s for around $350 every once in awhile. Is the Mark II really worth all that extra cash? I just want it loud and I kinda want Brahmas just because they like smaller boxes and the power compression a large ass box would give me. Thanks
When I called Adire, they told me that the latest revisions of the Mark I Brahma's share some of the parts of the Mark II's. Some of the shared parts include the spider, tinsel leads, and the terminals. The tech that I talked to at Adire also told me that the new dustcap allowed for greater rearward excursion and reduces the likelihood of cracking the dustcap during the backward stroke if it bottoms out. Again, all this is what the Adire tech relayed to me over the phone. Myself, I was able to purchase the latest revision of the Brahma 12 Mark I, and I have never been happier. This has to be the best woofer that I have heard to date in my vehicle. I have not had any problems in relation to tinsel lead slapping or any mechanical noise. I currently have the woofer in a 2 ft^3 ported enclosure tned to 29hz powered by a Tsunami db1100. I think the only woofer that I would replace this woofer with is either the new version, or upcoming new versions of the Brahma, and maybe a W7 if I ever have the amplifier power for that.
