I got this idea off the gallery from this site (will provide pic) of what i want to do with my trunk. My question is, do you think something like this would be possible with my car, amp, and subss i am getting.

    Car - 1998 Saturn SL2
Amp - Pheonix Gold Octane R15.0:1
Subs - TC-10 link to specs

Now, for a pic of whit i want to do.

    Pic 1

    Pic 2

Will I be able to have enough space to make the boxes "big" enough to handle those subs?
Will those subs sound right (no noise cancellation due to angles)?
Would it be better to just go with a different setup for boxes (different spots, ect ect)?

The reason i like this setup, is that my wife moans about the limited trunk space with my big arse box that is in there now. This will leave me room for groceried and hauling luggage, ect ect, and still look, and sound nice.

If you have a pic of a better method, feel free to share, as at this point, i am open to about anything that will make my system sound better, and look better :)

    Thanks
    Blade

    @ pedro quiroga

yes and no at the same time, lol. I like how there is some trunk space in those pics, but, it just isnt what i was looking for :( If i were using this car for shows, or wasnt a "family man", i think something like that would work.
One of the resons for the trunk pics i am looking at, is that i also do not lose access to my spare tire, lol, and it makes it look like it is supposed to be there.

    @ Ranger SVO

While that a VERY nice install on that caddy :), not exactly what i am looking for either. Although you are closer :) I really like how the box in the caddy blends VERY will with the interior of the trunk, and make it look like "part of" the trunk. Thats part of the look i am going for. Well, thats most of the look im going for, lol. As i stated to pedro, i need easy access to the spare :( I guess i should have mentioned that in my first post, lol.

My main concern with doing like the pics i posted, is will there be enough "volume" in the boxes for those speakers to sound proper.

Since, if i go with the design i posted, i am moving my spare up top, theoritically, i can "raise" the floor of my trunk a little bit, and have angled boxed that use that portion of the trunk for box space as well. I guess kinda like going up top, and curving under with the box.

My second concern is, will the speakers, angeled towards each other like that, cancel out some of the bass i am trying to achieve.

Also, a quick thought, or question. When mounting an amp in like the pics in the caddy, would it hurt to cover in plexi, or would it make it too hot?

    Thanks again
    Blade

You can do so many things with a trunk. Its just a matter of thinking it out in advance. The Saturn should pose no problem or little problem. Either way it should not be a difficult project.

I am not a fan of small enclosures, but if you choose your speaker wisely then you will be OK. Every speaker manufacturer will tell you that his speaker will work in a small enslosure so do some research

Th Camaro sounded OK, not great but OK. Looks was the main thing for this owner, the amps are hidden behind the back panel (I cannt find the pics)

Pointing speakers at each other should pose no problem.

Do you use fiberglass when making these type of boxes, or what do you use for the back of them.

Because of the weird shapes and angles, I construct the boxes from MDF and assemble them as best I can. I then line the entire insde with glass to seal it and hold it together. I only use this method with odd shaped boxes because of the extra time.

The Baffle is attached last. The box is put in place. This is the fun part. The trim pieces should have already been made and test fitted. They should all fit perfect. The trim pieces must fit up against the box because they will be held in place by the speaker

In other words the screws that hold the speakers in the box go through the trim piece and the box. When using this method the box MUST be bolted down.

So ussblade, I would start with the trim pieces. Get them to fit in the car the way you need them to fit. I start with cardboard. All the trim pieces are made with cardboard first. I don't try to use one piece. use a lot of pieces. Glue them, staple them, tape them, its easier to make one big piece from many little pieces then it is to make one big piece.

Once the templates are made, then start construction of the boxes and amp racks. Test fitting alot is Imperative. Every step must be checked and double checked. Because final assembly is just that, final assembly, no more adjustments

The two pictures in your first post is not difficult by any means. But you need to plan ahead. So get started and keep us informed. If you have any questions ask.
