Well I ran into some problems with my system. The phasing seem all off. the DLS sounded really crappy. I was sure that everything was hooked right. Early this morning (5am) I rechecked my wiring and I was right, everything was hooked up right.

I have my Nine.4 bridged BUT I accidentally set it for 2 channel operation instead of 4 channel. BANG! everything sounded pretty good again when a flipped the switch. I sounded pretty good cuz I still don't like the midbass it's putting out. Another thing is that the right speakers are a lot louder than my left. I now have to recheck the gain settings and the RCA's to see what's going on with that.

Question, what should I set the HPF to on the NINe.4? the midbass is pretty weak right now and I need to improve it. the bass from the subs is really overbearing and the cutoff points are really obvious. In short the blending is real bad!

    Suggestions???

the highpass for my front 6x9s on my deck is set at 120hz, anything lower and they bottom out when cranked lol. Try 100 hz if your not happy with 120

but do they give good midbass at 120hz? I don't want to have a big gap between my sub and midbass so what should the lowpass be set to for the subs?

you won't get much midbass at 120 hz but when you turn up your system it still sounds clear without too much bass for the front speakers. Is it a subsonic for the low pass?, set it at 30 hz so it doesn't play anything below 30 hz

but having the sub crossover point between 40-70 then having the components crossed over at 120 would leave a huge gap, wouldn't it?

ok but hold on lol, we are talking about the amp yes? it should have a high pass and a subsonic filter yes? Not called low pass filter.. If it's called a subsonic filter on the amp set it to 30 hz and it will play 30hz and up then the fronts take over at 120hz

the nine.1 does have a subsonic. it's set right now at about 30hz.

so i should set the nine.4 at about 100 to 120hz and I should be ok then?

ya man!! lol, you will know when your system is set with the eq and bass boost and all the other crap. If you turn up your stereo and you hear your fronts popping then you can go say from 100 hz to 120 hz. Then you should be able to turn your system 3/4 volume with no popping on the fronts and start blending your sound environment haha I don't think your components would take 80hz or 60 hz too well.

Thanks electro! you're a big help!!! I went down and made the adjustments. Sounds great now!!! I'll finally make some videos of the tomorrow.

I'm not using any bass boost or any of that kind of crap.

glad to hear you got it fixed. did you do that with your settings at 0?

i have my front doors crossed over at 63HZ hi pass and up and my sub is at 80hz lowpass both on my head. my dash are at around 300hz hi pass.

some rap and bass songs can make the doors play too much bass so i just adjust it to around 80 or 100. i love being able to adjust it from the dash.

everything was set at zero when I did the adjustments on the amp. my three.1 doesn't have a 63hz adjustment. I think it's only like 125hz. on my HU i have 80, 130 and like 150hz and it's a pain in the butt to go through the menu for that.

another question. I was messing around with my stereo and it has speaker levels that i can adjust individually from 0db to +12db. I also have speaker distance that can be adjusted as well.

what should i do with these settings?

thats time alignment. i messed around with mine till the imaging was dead center.

what head unit do you have?

I have a JVC KD-AVX2. How did you go about doing that? just by ear?

And yet another question about grounding. I'm having a hard time finding another ground for my head unit cuz everything near the HU seems to be plastic. I disconnected the antenna and I got a real bad buzzing, humming, whine (whatever you want to call it) and when I connect the antenna back in it gets faint again. That is a ground problem, right? do you think it's a head unit ground problem or an amp ground problem. My ground for my amp looks very good, it's about 6 inches away from the amp. I have no idea where to ground my HU now. any suggestions on where to find a point?

    yup.:)

it did take a long time to get it right tho. its not a 5 min adjustment.

i set it to the drivers side listening position, then to the suv position(mine has several types of vehicles preset in to it. suv, van, station wagon, and sedan). then i tweaked it till it was just how i liked it.

the eq was just as long. even more so since i moved my tweets again. i'll post a pic soon. maybe a vid of my sub to show electro how its done.

well, I was able to reground the headunit last night. I didn't have a long enough run in 8 gauge though so I just used speaker wire.lol It did however make a big difference but there is still a little hiss but now more alternator whine. I really want to get rid of the hiss though. the ground that I made for the HU is kinda far (4 to 5 ft.), I counldn't find a good grounding point close to the stereo so i had to do it near the parking brake.

Here's the deal now, I was think the hiss may be caused by the crossover (left side) is right near the power wire. Could that be the reason? I didn't have time to mess with it and reposition the crossover. Do you think that could be it?

remove it from the dash and see if it goes away. remember what i told you about my noise prob with my xm roadies power supply?

or the hiss could be the gain is set too high.

That could be it but I don't think my gain is set too high. I should play around with it some more though. I seriously don't think i'm getting even an 8v signal to my amps. maybe the guy who owned it before me adjusted the settings. I gotta take a look at it. Damn, that means i gotta pull out the head unit and three.1 again!! oh well.

Pedro, i also read about people using a common ground for all their amps and head unit so you won't get a ground loop. Right now, i have separate grounds for the nine.1, nine.4 and headunit. Is that ok?
