1)i have 1 kicker L5 12" sub in seald box with very little trunk space so i was wanting to know if i put poly fill in the box and put a port in and put a grill at the front or back of the port, will this work to make the sub think its in a bigger box and the port still work? 2) the other opptin i thoght about was taking the spare tire out (but i know as soon as i did i would have a flat. should i go through with it?
Around 2~2.5 cf. "Viking" I'm not sure if its called that or not. Its the same stuff that's in pillows. There have been lots of people that do this on seal sub boxes but never head of anyone doing it in a ported box.
Im sure it can be done, but i imagine it would blow out the port if not secured properly, you can buy polyfill sheets (about an inch thick) that can be glued and stapled to the interior of the box that could work..
Well it not just put on the sides of the box. The box is completely filled (I think 1lbs for ~1.5cf. So about 1.25lbs in a 2cf box. I'll give it a shot and see if it works.
Done some research and found people that say yea it does help and some say no just put some type of dens foam on the inner walls of the box (from what I gather its to cut down on echo coming out of the port and help flatin the bass spurts a little bit to give it more of a clean sound but also have good spl as oppose spl with sloppy rumble) help me to understand this better if I'm wrong.
Well kicker recommends 2.5 cf I think for the 12" L5 and my box is 1.9. Its in the range for porting but I whant it a lil big to get to the "g spot" for the subs recommended size. But I just can't go no bigger. Why you might ask. Well because when it comes to the "ol lady" and her trunk space or my sub box being big she wins lol.
