Could anyone help me put woofers in my truck?

    Hi There!
I have a 1991 Toyota Pickup. I recently put in two 4 inch mids with self contained 1/2 in. tweeters. I thought I was on the right track, but I can't drive my 6 1/2 in. "woofers" very hard without them making an odd noise. It sounds like clipping.....but I'm not exactly sure. I'm not the greatest with the technical specs, so first off I should probably ask you if it might be clipping. I have this head unit. I'd really rather not spend the money on buying an amp or spend the time building one, but if I have to in order to get more kick, I will.

Now that the first question has been asked, I also need to figure out a spot to mount the woofers. I often carry passengers in the back seats, but both of them do fold up, and have two, unequally-sized compartments underneath.(see photos)

I could probably get at the resources to build my own enclosures. I thought I could make two identically sized enclosures about the size of the smaller compartment. I could put 10" woofers in both. Then, I could mount the woofer in the larger compartment so I would still have room to store my hitch in it.

Any advice? Is the rattling noise I'm hearing clipping, or is it just the interior plastic vibrating because of the lack of enclosure?

    Thanks for any input!

Can it be clipping, yes it can. The 6.5 are not woofers, more like a midrange or midbass, but they dont have the excursion to produce the deep bass frquencies that a true woofer does. When I look at them it looks like there was a plate speaker there and you installed a round one in its place, it looks like there are 4 openings as if it does not fit properly (round peg in a square hole) but its hard to tell from the picture. The front and back needs to be sealed from each other. So it could just be clipping, maybe even banging on their suspension esp if not sealed (doubtful) or you are trying to make them produce bass frequencies that they are not made to produce and they are just distorting. As for your 10 inch woofers, im not sure what you mean by installing them in the "smaller identical enclosures" and then putting it in the bigger spot. Anyway you will need a amp if you want to run subwoofers, no way you can run them off the headunit.
