I've been looking into subs for my Kia Sephia. I enjoy all types of music, but my main 2 genres are hip hop and dub step so I need a sub that can punch and pronounce the separations between deep bass oscillations that fits in my budget. At first I looked into Kickers, but then I noticed the 15" BOSS CH153DVC (1000w peak, 500w RMS, 2hz-1khz, Dual 4 ohm) and it really caught my interest. Here are my questions:

    1. Am I better off with a Kicker? This one is $20 cheaper and is reported to be incredibly loud in comparison.

    2. How should it be mounted (ported, sealed, dimensions, etc)?

    3. What kind of amp and how should it be wired? (CHEAPEST POSSIBLE SOLUTION, I dont care enough about the bass to spend more than 50-100 on an amp)

Also, my car seems to have occasional bouts of electrical issues (on RARE occasion the lights will dim when I hit the turning signal or break, no clue why) will this destroy the electrical system?

    Thanks for the help

I really don't like recommending brands but lets see if we can steer you in the right directions.

First and foremost, your speaker enclosure will be the most important part of your system. With that said, lets go with a ported box. Build it yourself and save a bundle.

Next, lets step up the budget on your amp. Seriously, if you want hard hitting Bass, your box and your amp will be the main players. I would think 400 to 500 watts RMS or more if you run across a good deal.

Something like this would be OK
    PowerBass Amp
There are many other budget amps that could do a good job, but keep in mind, it must be 2-ohm stable. (I'm assuming one woofer)
    Two woofers equals more amp.

Your sub selection is OK, dual 4-ohm voice coils would give us a 2-ohm load. In the right box it should do OK. There would be no real difference in sound between the Boss and the Kicker, however the Kicker may be more durable. Lets do the Boss, the right enclosure will make it sing

Someone on a different forum suggested I go with the RWE-302 - MB Quart 12" instead of the BOSS or Kicker. Whats the opinion on that?

And what are some choices for the amps I can get that give decent RMS under $100 that wont drain too much from my low end electrical system (is it even possible for it to effect my electrical system?)?

And thank you so much for being so helpful!!

Also, I found what appears to be a great combo deal for wires and amp, whats the vote on this one? From others I've seen in the price range this seems rather powerful.
