Well as some of you know I was gonna put that system in my truck. I started to and winter came....Now I have a whole different plan...

Yesterday I bought a 2000 Chevy Blazer...It is very nice, very clean with 86,000 miles on it....My car I have (96 Olds 88) is gonna go to my son for a car and I am gonna sell the full size chevy truck (95 1500 with 243,000 miles on it)....

    Here is my question/plan...

I play in a band and I play almost every weekend (drums) and so I need the Blazer to haul the drums. That leaves no room for a big system. On the passenger side of the rear compartment between the wheel well hump and the tailgate hatch, there may be enough room for me to build a fiberglass enclosure to mount one of my Elemental Design 8" DVC subs...I am not sure about changing head unit or any other speakers...The system sounds pretty decent as it sits, just lacks good low end. The midbass may be a little muddy, but I can back the bass control down on the factory HU and fill it out with a sub...Prolly mount the amp under one of the front seats somewhere.

    What are thoughts on this??

That would be pretty cool, so is this basically for SQ?

OK willy please read with an open mind. I have a co worker that just got a late model Honda Civic, we all know they have pretty small trunks, esp when it comes to subs and amps. He used to have a Tahoe with 3 12 inch JL W1s with a JL 500 watt amp, it banged pretty hard. He told me to go listen to his Honda without looking in the trunk, Factory HU, LOCs small MTX sub amp, small MTX 4 channel amp with Alpine speakers up front. This thing banged like crazy, at least as loud as his 3 JLS and it sounded pretty darn good up front as well. I was thinking how the hell did he fit his 3 12s in the dinky trunk. Anybody want to guess what he had in the trunk. After listening I never would have guessed.

ok willy.what i would do is make a small box for the 8 and make it movable.

i cant tell you how many times. i needed to move my sub around to make stuff fit in the back.if i went with the fixed box i would be screwed.

my guess is a small cube with extra speaker wire would do it.anywhere against the rear seat works great.

No eights or tens. This mofo had 2 Bazooka tubes!!! 12 inchers. Hell I didnt even know they made a 12 inch tube. Barely took up anyroom in his trunk and was run off of this dinky MTX amp, probably no more that 400 watts max. These things rocked. VERY IMPRESSED. Once I looked them up I found they have a 106 db efficiency. He got them on Ebay for around 140 each shipped. Im going to get a few for sure.

It would probably be better than a FG enclosure. They are easy to install, easy to remove and take up little room. And like I said have an open mind, cause I never would have thought of Bazooka, Never. Whenever I heard the word Bazooka I always thought of swap meet garbage. Not anymore folks. Anyway you should just give it some consideration.

i used to have a 6 inch bazooka in my truck for about 2 weeks.sold it to a friend.he needed it more. i was amazed at its output too.even for a 6in.

one thing i didnt like is it has nasty port noise with deep bass notes.

my coworker just got an 8 in version and he said it hits 10 times harder than the 12 he had before it.

mine was 100db at 1 watt.

It is not gonna happen real soon, but I am gonna change out some stuff on the blazer...

I am gonna build the box that I was gonna build for the two 8" E.D. subs and make it removable in the back..I think I am gonna take that area on the rear most of the passenger rear and mount an amp there and make a carpeted cover for it so it is not visible (will wire in a fan for cooling)...

I am thinking about changing out the factory HU for one of those DVD in-dash with the touch screen stuff, or go with an Alpine CD player HU. I have not decided yet...As far as the speakers, I may leave the front and rears stock...

    Dunno yet...

What are your opinions on the "Dual" brand that Best Buy carries? I saw one of the DVD units there and it looks pretty cool, but I am leary...Most of their stuff is just to stinkin gawdy lookin, but that unit looks nice..
