So I planned on getting 6.5'' alpine type r components but really I want something different. I don't know anybody that has cdt's or focal components and I know a few people that have type r's. Anybody have experience with these two? How do they compare with type r's?

what exact models are you talking about with the focal and CDT's? I've heard first hand the sound of focal and they sound REALLY good.

I was looking at the 165V1's but if I can find 165V2 for around the same price I would get those. Are these really really loud and clear because thats what I'm looking for.

just make sure you get them from an authorized dealer. I don't know about the U.S. but there are a lot fakes out there. Focal polyglass are very clear, you'll be happy with the sound.

You may also want to take a look at DLS, they are right up there with Focal. I have DLS and I love the sound.

YES! Watch out for fakes! many out there, if you get them off the internet, look for "Autorized Dealer" next to the Focal link thingy or somewhere on the site.

I also have Focal in my car, 6.5 comps upfront with 6x8 in rear deck, both polyglas series. the sound quality is very nice and get quite loud off of a 35x4 Hifonics amp. But if id have to choose id go back to the Oz Audio Matrix Elite, I had them in my last car and to be honest I have not heard a smoother sounding speaker at any price range and they get very loud. If your are a big Alpine fan then go with the type X. Any of those 3 are way above the type r. If you really want loud and crystal clear go with Oz Audio Matrix series, you will love the sound.

The oz matrix do look pretty sweet but are a little expensive. I'm looking for something around 250 a pair. I think ill try some cdt, I hear there good and loud, plus I don't know anybody that has them around where I live so I think thats my choice. Last thing would be what amp should I power these with? There 4 ohm 170rms. I figured prolly like a 800-900watt amp.

If your looking at 1 sub id go with a Kicker L7 12 inch in a ported box, they bang like a mofo.

I have a hifonics but I'm gonna stick with a soundstream or cadence I think? What other amps would be good for around $350
