Quick question, i just installed this unit in my car (love it btw) and i was wondering if it is compatible with the ipod 3g touch. The reason I ask is that everything i can find including the manual says that it is only compatible with the 1st/2nd generations.

When i connect to the unit (via a standard usb cable (normal cable is too short) + the ipod white cable) sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If it is compatible do i need to use the alpine extender (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/kcu-440i) or can i use what i have now, a standard computer usb cable + the ipod white cable.

I used the Alpine USB extension cable in my truck, but it came with my Alpine iDa X303. But I use the iPod white cable to connect the iPod to the USB extension wire

I have run into no weird problems, everything works as advertised. I don't know why you would need the Alpine extension cable. USB is USB
