i have a 10 in 750w jl audio sub with a large amp and a capasitor (i think) and i wanted to know when ever i turn the volume on a song with bass why do the lights dim down and start to flicker with the music same with the headlight and how do you stop this
its called voltage drop...it means your electrical system is too weak for your amplifier. Please list all relevant information. Make and model of sub, amp, cap(throw it in the trash), wiring kit, what gauge of wire, how is the amp grounded, how is the sub wired, how is the gain set, what vehicle,
dear god that is a long list the sub: jl audio 10W7 amp: infinity BASSLINK T (ithink) cap: pyle plcape500 car: audi a8 the thing is i bought the car with the things allready in it so i have no idea on the guage of wire and how it is grounded
if i were u, i would just redo all the wiring anyways but thats me. Do the Big 3, throw the cap in the garbage, and get some Knuconceptz KLMX Kable(If you are on a budget) depending on the size of the amp.
id say it has some real potential with a solid electrical system and a custom enclosure. instead of the capacitor i would add another battery to the back of your car. much more effective
infinity BASSLINK T? isn't that one of those powered sub combos? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qfGLThK8ugo/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=51000&I=108BASSLT I may be mistaken but i don't get his set up. anybody got any links of his amp?
i had a really small jensen amp in my moms car that i ran at 2ohms and it made the lights dim noticeably. even with a new alternator wire and ground wire.
i looked it up,and its the one with 3 subs 2 of them being passive. i almost got one a few years back when i bought the jimmy.only the demo didnt work so i couldnt hear it. so i got my PA's instead. maybe the previous owners swapped subs and used the jl
good point pedro. the reason i think my moms car lights dimmed so much is because i ran the amp pretty hard. it shouldn't have been stable at 2 ohms bridged but it took it anyways and it was a very inefficient amp.
it was a 50x2 PEAK amp, you could run that on 10 gauge and she had a 8 gauge power and all 4 gauge under the hood.
