Hi there, I am having alittle trouble deciding between what I wanna get. Im looking at either getting one (or two) 10 inch Alpine SWR-1042D's, dual 4 ohm vc's, 500 watts rms, 1500 peak (which are last years model) or I was looking at getting one 12 inch Alpine SWR-1243D, dual 4 ohm vc's, 600 watts rms, 1800 watts peak, which is this years model. i can get two of the 10's for the cost of the one 12 but I don't know if I should do that in fear of killing my alternator. I'm looking to spend around 200$ for the sub but I could go higher if its worth it, and im looking for the louder setup, im planning on putting whatever i get in a ported enclosure. please let me know what you guys think and i am open for suggestions, thanks
welcome to the forum. ok before i start to suggest things; what amp do you have now? i ask because the 2 10's can be wired to 4 ohms or 1 ohm. whereas the 12 can be wired to 8 or 2 ohms. in the right enclosure either set up can get loud.. it's dependent on the power giving to them, and the enclosure size. the 2 10's have more cone area, but that alone wont mean they can or will be louder than the 12. how much room do you have or are willing to give up for this box?
