Hi all, First of all I wanted to mention that I am quite new in the fascinating world of car audio. Since a short while I am using pioneer f3210bt in a vw golf mk5. The problem is that the HU does not switch of when taking the key from the contact switch. I found out that the "switched positive signal" is send via the can bus in a golf 5 (and not via a standard analogue wire). Not all head units can pick up can bus signals. I have attached a photo of the wiring from my car. Now is my question as follows: -What is the part (black box) shown on the foto? Is this a can bus adapter or a can bus steering wheel adapter???? Is there a difference between these two? -Should this part be able to pick up the "switched positive signal" from the can bus and send it to the head unit?? In order to switch of the HU after removing the key from the switch Any help is greatly appreciated.
Yes there is a difference between the steering wheel remote adapter and rhe CanBus interface. I'm gonna guess thats a steering wheel remote adapter because of the 1/8-inch jack. Also we would like to know what year your car is
The car is a vw golf mk5 2005. Yes it should be a steering wheel can bus interface as I heard the same form other sources. The jackplug should be inserted to the wired remote plug on the HU. The confusing part for me is that, I presume, the most steering wheel can bus interfaces also ´decode´ can bus signals other than steering wheel signals such as switched plus, illumination etc... So do I have to see it like this; a can bus interface is responsible for decoding all can bus signals. A steering wheel can bus interface decodes steering wheel signals and most of the time also other can bus signals.... but not always.
The steering wheel interface is just for the steering wheel controls. The Axxess xsvi 9003 is the Can Bus interface that you need for your car. There maybe other brands also. Check PAC Audio.
