The Mini Disc is the thing on the right. It requires a special player to play it. Now the 3-inch disc, it cannot be played by any conventional player that I am aware of. They do not have the ability to pull the disc all the way in to the center.

I am not sure if they are still available but Sony used to make a tray type CD player. When you hit eject a tray would slide out and you would place your CD on the tray, it was capable of playing 3-inch CD's.

I know of no other player with that ability

You might be right. I don't remember seeing those Sony's for a few years now. I'll have to search the net tomorrow and see if anyone still make tray mounts.

They were popular in competition because they would not skip (yaaaa right). You hit around 160, it skipped. Everthing skips at that level.

But I remember that those were some pricey units.

The older Alpine's can play the 3" CD's without an adapter. The models were the 7914 and 7915 and others from that time frame. I had a 7914 and it had 3" CD Compatible silk screened right below the CD slot.

Not aware of a current HU that can play them though.
