I have a Pioneer Dehp5000ub deck in my car. I have 4 infinity kappa component systems in my car (4 tweeters and 4 woofers) powered by a Eclipse 4 channel amp. Then I have a JL W3 sub powered by a MTX amp. Awhile back I had engine noise really bad. It was a high pitch squeal that was terribly annoying. I searched everywhere for a way to fix it. Finally someone told me to strip a wire and wrap it around the rca plugs in the back of the deck to ground it. It worked like a charm! So now the only noise I have to fix is a buzzing in the background of my music. When I am switching tracks on my ipod and you can hear a buzzing scratchy noise. Its so bad when im on XM that i dont want to use it. I tried grounding the deck directly to the battery and the noise is still there. Then I went to best buy and got a new pioneer deck to just try it and see. The noise was pretty much gone but still slightly there. Some say that you will have a little bit of that noise just because of the way everything works. Then others say that I need to get twisted RCA plugs. I also have heard that there is a fuse called a pico fuse and its easy to blow if you dont unplug the battery before unplugging the RCA cords. I have no clue what to do. Any ideas???
perhaps its your altenrator. I could :\ its jsut a motor in reverse, still putting off magnetic fields, or simply a bad amp? idk i have a 4 chanel eclipse in my system as well. never had a problem with it, it's a wonderful amp. they make good quality stuff. have you tried a dif set of rca's, perhaps more insulated to prevent interference.
ground your eclipse amp on absolutely bare metal. make sure it is tight and secure. thats all i got. no ground distro blocks either...
Im pretty sure its not from the alternator because the noise stays the same with the car off as it does on. I have all the paint grinded off the area i grounded it and its seems to be fine. I have tried to move it and it makes no difference. The thing that is stumping me is that i tried another deck and the noise was a little less (i could deal with it) but it was still failtly there. The audio shop i go to said that some amps just put off that type of noise. I have heard pioneer decks are known for provolking noises too. Im not sure what to do but im pretty damn close to buying a new kenwood or alpine deck.
I'd say it's your amp, rca's or the speaker wires them self but since the deck change helped, i'd say that rules out speaker wire and leaves you with the amp and the preamp connections. I'd do the cheaper thing first and try a set of dif rca's. perhaps with out an amp as well, to rule out faulty car wiring.
Okay so I went to Best Buy and dropped $90 on 2 rockford fosgate dual twisted rca's. It made the noise go down a little but not totally. Im thinking a new deck and these rca's will do the trick. Or do you have any other ideas??
heh, I would never spend that much on rca's you can get a recent set for 20$ probobly :| but if you psnet 90$ i'm sure they were monster. I'm thinking it's the ladder, cheap rca's and cheap amp with leaking compactors that are bleeding a squeel into the speaker wires.
is the noise still there even if you unplug the rca's from the amp? also is the noise coming from all the speakers?
are your RCA's on the opposite side of the car as the power wire? Also make sure if the RCA's and the power have to cross at some point, they intersect at 90 degrees.
The rcas are on the passenger side and the power is on the driver side. They never cross. I have tried unplugging the rca's from the deck and the noise is gone.
oh yeah, i completly forgot about that. but honestly you'd still only get the interference with the alternator pumping because it'll have more verations in it's current than the battery would. so that couldn't be it if it doesn't diminish with the car being off.
The rca's are on the passenger side and the power cable is on the drivers side. They never cross. I just went out there and tried disconnecting the rca's from the amp. Turned it on and the noise is gone. Im not sure what thats telling me but i did it. When everything is plugged in the noise comes from all speakers. This is a long tedious process but I'm still thinking its the deck. Idk though. What do you guys think? Im looking at the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X693. The ratings are good but it all depends on if a new deck will solve my issue.
sounds like it could be the deck. thats why a asked you to disconnect it from the amp. i had a pioneer do the same thing to me. it was only quiet from the speaker outs, and well like most here i dont do just deck power..lol
Okay so im looking at the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X693 and the Alpine CDA-9886. Any ideas?? Im leaning toward that kenwood but im open to your thoughts.
anything kenwood im sure is good. they aren't high end but they make stable products, and they've been in the buisness at least 20 they were like pioneer in the 90's
