Im going to build a bandpass box for a pair of JL12W6-V2's. I called JL tech support to ask what the recommended sealed area volume should be. I told him that both subs will be sharing the same chamber. He told me 1.2 cubic feet for the pair. That sounds like a very small space to me. Im hoping to get feedback on this. Also, does anyone know how much displacement a 12W6-V2 has when it's mounted into 3/4 MDF? Has anyone considered using 1" MDF instead to keep things a little more stout? I know its heavy but I have plenty availiable.

A bandpass enclosure is a different breed of box. The volume stated for the sealed side does not sound out of bounds for good performance. The vented side (this being a single reflex bandpass enclsure) does alot of the work through its tuning. THis is where some real gain in SPL can be had. At the expense of low frequency response however. Out of curiosity, post the entire dimensions to the enclosure. Vent length and area included.

I would go with what they reccomend for right now, they aint gunna tell you to make a box that sounds like shyte with their subs in it! As far as using 1" stock, go for it, all you can do do make a stronger box, the better...

The ported side will need to be 1.64 cubic feet with a 40 sq. in port 11.5 in long. just seems a little small to me. If it sounds right im gonna build it!

Running the calculations in my head, Which is far from a pocket calculator, sounds OK to me! Build the damned thing and tell us how it sounds!

Seems like the vent tuning will be in the area of 75 Hz, give or take. that will give about an effective range of around 40-125 Hz, again, roughly, doing this in my head hurts you know, i am old! as far as gain, will actually have to run some numbers some time if I think of it, but i would GUESS about 2-3 dB over the same woofers in a sealed box from the info you posted..............

Im running a Orion XTR475 to my surrounds which are two JLVR650's and two JLVR690's. For the two W6V2's Im gonna use an Orion HCCA250. Both amps are old school. It should be sweet! Thanks guys for the input.
