Im pretty ashamed i cant answer this on my own, but i dont have much experience with 4 channel amps. My amp is stable @ 2 ohms, What im looking to do is take my (4) 4ohm speakers and wire them in 2 ohms by bridging them on the amp. What confuses me is yes this amp is a 2/3/4 channel but when bridging do i just take take...ya know what..tell me if this is correct! http://yfrog.com/eq2ohmj http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KAC8405/Kenwood-KAC-8405.html?tp=115&tab=features_and_specs If youd like to see the amp specs
Viking can you PLEASE explain how that makes one ohm? Its obviously rite in front of my face but its not making sense to me. If i bridge 2 4ohms to ch1 and 2 isnt that creating 2 ohms? . Or does the bridging of ch 3 and 4 have an effect on 1 and 2
Any time you bridge an amp into MONO, the amplifier "see's" half the impedance. channels 1 and 2 bridged with 2) 4ohm speakers creates a 2 ohm load from the speakers....BUT, the amp see's half that......a ONE ohm load... channels 3 and 4 same thing......does that make sense or is the budweiser talking?
Im not sure, brb going to get a 12pack of bud and ill let ya know. Ill bust out the pen and pad tomorrow and try to figure that out, thanks! Im just to use to mono amps is my problem! EDIT- I GET IT!!! Lol.. So yes my speakers are seeing 2 ohms but now that the amp is seeing 2 ohms on each channel but since those channel are being bridged it cuts it in half to 1 !. I tend to think "how the speakers are wired is the 1 and only answer to the ohms in that circuit" Does that make sense or is that the marijuana talking? =P So the only way to get 2 ohms with 4 speakers in my situation is with 8ohm speakers, rite? (just double checking)
LOL!!!! MONO block amps are for wussies!!!! LOL! Beer clarifies everything..........Hmmm, my ol lady may disagree!
That amp is not sable at 2ohms bridged.I clicked your link and on the page that comes up it has a section called details, read the 3rd line it says(amp stable at 4ohms when bridged).Just to let you know.
