Hi there, I'm new here as most of you could probably tell. I am also new to DIY audio installations. My plan was to install my JBLs in my car (Toyota Matrix 03) this morning, however once I got the door panel off I noticed that the mounting bracket was fastened on by some sort of screw that has no place to "un-screw" it from, they look like washer with smaller holes in the middle. So I can't even get the old speaker out. I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get on this as I am quite sick of these old speakers. I apologize in advance if this is a rook question. I'd rather learn the had way than not get these installed. Thank you.
Are there two holes in the head of the screw? If so you need a special bit. I believe they are called spanner screws. I have seen the bits at ACE Hardware. They run about $2-3 depending on the size. Here is what I believe you have http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/detail.ex?sku=SP04C0024SS0000&ucst=t
