Alright. I built the whole sealed box, carpeted it, put the subs in, and I tried drilling the holes for the screws to hold the sub in... but the drill bit slipped into the sub hole. The whole I cut for the sub is like 1/8" too big. The sub sits in there perfectly fine because the lip on it is almost 1/2" all the way around, but the screws holding it in there won't screw fully into the MDF. Now my question is, what should I do? I'm building this box for someone and I don't want to scrap the whole box. I was thinking I should take a square piece of MDF, cut the sub hole in it, exactly right this time, then cut it right down the middle so it's two half circles (so I can get the pieces inside the box), then glue those on the inside of the box so if I use like 2" screws they'll hold the sub in place. What do you guys think I should do?
you could cut original holes bigger so you can utilize your idea with the baffle behind the original baffle to make recessed subs. get the idea???
well i had the same problem w/ my box...what i did was that i put some weather stripping in the hole to meke sure there werent any leaks and than put the screws sideways(lol idk if you understand it...but lets see if this is better lol i put the scres at a 45-40 degree angle and with the box's carpet and rubber surrond the sub has should create a nice seal...but you have to make sure its tight...after that you can test it and see if you are leaking any air...
