A friend of mine was wanting to beat hard, wall shake, rattle down the block system, so we're getting two eD 19Ov.2. We already tried ordering a box cutout sheet from BJ Fisher, but it's been almost a month and I still got no response, but he got my money. I've tried asking a couple more people, but never get responses. It's going in the back of a 04 Jeep Cherokee. 28" deep, 36" wide, and 27" high Those are the max dimensions all the way to the top, so he won't be able to see out the back of his Jeep. He'd rather look at sub box. Want ported box. Listens to alot of rap, bangin lows. But listens to rock too. Subs will get 2000 RMS. I appreciate it if anyone can.
You do realize that the woofer has an outside diameter of 18.375 inches each. Two of them side by side will require a width greater than 36-inches. And what about room for the port? This box needs to be wider
Yea, I see that. With a 28" depth. We want to fit both 18"s in the back of this little jeep and hit 195 db....... ha, but we want to be as loud as we can, with these. This isn't 100% accurate, but it's like 80% close. If you think we need to go back to the drawing board. My friend literally just said he don't have a spending limit as long as it's worth it. But probably around 500 - 700$ for the subs, but these 18"s what he been focused on because every ones got 10"s, 12"s and 15"s and I'll do a remeasure
yeah, i was gonna say something too. x2 on what pedro said. the layout you have could be done but only in a sealed application...
well, if you can get those subs side by side then you'll have room for a port at either the top or bottom of the box.
is this going to be a wall or a large box? has he considered firing them up in the hatch? maybe use the whole hatch for the box?
Yea, fire them up, or towards the back is what was thought of. We originally planned to have the box made by a professional. Other things came up and family members started offering to build the box for free if we bought the MDF board. I tried doing this with programs, but my experience isn't up there with boxes. So either having them facing front, back, straight up, anything. We'll take any advice and put it to use. The maxxx dimensions width - 38" height - 28" depth - 27" It would be wider, at the back door of the Jeep it's 44" wide, but then there's tire wells in there that make it 38" I appreciate
hmmm, just a thought. why not fire them up and port to the rear... since you could play with the height, could the box start after the wheel well humps? meaning, build like a stand for the box so you could get a better width? i'm just shooting out suggestions. hopefully Ranger or azn could have some input.
I can take some pictures of the back of it so ya'll know more about whats going on. I'll put in the measurements of every thing. The only thing I notice is that the hatch does start narrowing as it gets to the top. The bottom of the door was 44" wide, towards the top it narrows to about 40". It's good, I want suggestions, opinions. Even if it has to do with another subs. Me and him were talking about what ya'll said, he said even if it's possible to fit either the 18"s are multiple other size speakers, like four 15"s or something rather to that. 2 on top, 2 on back. I guess we're trying to be extra ordinary, trying to throw some unique-ness around, but we want to do it the right way. He barely graduated and started his second job with construction. He works his ass off for his money... working his ass off for this system. We wanna do the hair trick and the house trick. and 18" + 18" sounds awesome to me
i was told for my truck i should have had the port firing up at the back window. when i moved the box with the 8's to have the port fire up at the back window it was a whole diff box. the lows hit just a lil harder and it just sounded louder at a lower vol.
How would this be? Do I need more port? From sub to port there's around 2 - 3 more inches room if I do need to make the port a little more wide.
OK, the dimensions you have in post #4 might work. If we can fit two ports in it we have it made. The ports need to be 9-inches wide by 6-inches. The port needs to be 18-inches long. I would place one port above a woofer and the other below the other woofer. This should work. I'm still working on your last picture We still have the problem of putting two 18-inch subs side by side. it won't go
OK, I'm not editting the above post any more. Two 18-inch woofers will get loud, just make sure you've got plenty of power.
I'm sure it will fit, If we have to make room for the width, we will. We're suppose to be building this box today. So ofcourse, I'm gonna take your advice Ranger, and extend how far it goes back from 24", to 27". Instead of the port being 3", I'm gonna make it 6". Instead of going 21" down, I'm gonna make it 9" down. Then it's gonna be the same 18" I'm sure this will turn out good. It's 11:00 here right now, we're gonna start around 2:00 today. I hope you input back.
