First and formost I have been stationed in japan for 3 years. So I have been out of the game for awhile. Here's what I have in my ford focus, yeah it's a focus don't laugh. My wife got the mustang! Here is what I have:

    headunit- Pioneer Deh-5000mp
    front speakers- Diamond audio D661s
    front amp- kicker kx 350.2
    no rear speakers
sub amp- mtx thunder 6500d 1x500 rms at 2ohm (certificate says 679 rms at 2ohms)
    sub box- prob box 1-10-spb ported Airspace: 1.50 cu. ft. L: 24" W: 16" H: 11"

Now I want a good SQ 10" sub. I use to be a big MTX fan. SO I have looked at the following:

    MTX T9510-04 - MTX Thunder 9500 10" SVC Subwoofer
    MTX T8510-44 - MTX 10" 1,000 Watt Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer
    Alpine SWX-1042D - Alpine 10" Type X Subwoofer
    Alpine SWR-1042D - Alpine 10" Type R 1500W Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer
Diamond Audio TDX10D4 - Diamond Audio 10" 1500 Watt 4 Ohm Subwoofer (very impressed with components)

So I have about four hundred bucks for one sub. I have everything else. Tell me what you think? Sorry post is so long.

HOW DARE YOU MAKE SUCH A BIG POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have a 1.5 cubic foot box, ported.......what is the length and diameter of the vent? once that is known, it would be a little easier to figure out which sub would fit in that box and achieve the best SQ......

I ordered the box yesterday from the internet so I don't have the specifications for the port. But, here is the website with some information:

    http://www.proboxrocks.com/superbass/110SPB.shtml

I went with this box because it was the closest type of box that I could find to the old Virtual technologies boxes. They were the best.

Ah....NO!!! Those boxes are crap...5/8's inch MDF and they are routered...5/8's is very cheap crappy MDF....those boxes would be ok IF they are heavily braced interally but I highly doubt that if they skimp on cost for 5/8's inch wood.

Look into some TCAB enclosures...sorry if my opinion about those boxes offended you

there are alot of good subs out there, but you need one that fits the bill..........

I would reccomend you getting a sub of your choice, and then building (or have built) the RIGHT box, but, too late, you have a box headed your way............

wait till you get the box, then tell us what the vent dimiensions are, THEN we can reccomend a sub suited for your needs............

So I may have made a mistake on ordering the box first. Oh well I have a friend who will buy it from me. Anyway yesterday I went to some local car audio shops and heard the mtx 9500 and 8500, which sounded good. But I also heard the Kicker 12 L7 in a box built to its specs, which sound even better So I think I will go with the L7, What do you think?

Well quite frankly I forget the name of their website but I have been there...You could try asking on the realmofexcursion.com forum

They are very nice boxes built to your needs and woofers

do the kicker L7.i have a L5 10 in a tiny factory kicker box and that little thing just beats the ****t out of me in the truck. i have it hooked to an old (wooden)phoenix gold M50 rated at 245 watts mono.

    i am not disapointed.

Um...I'd say the L5 over the L7 if you can't fully power the L7. L5 has a higher sensitivity rating
