Before anybody can even compare the two drivers, some hard facts about the ED driver need to be given. Man, Dan seems to be in battle mode heh? Me likey!

I would love to see a reply to dan's argument from eD to get both sides of the story... but we may not get anything until it's released.

 

i am very interested in checking out the adire mid...looks sweet

too much speculation on the ed mid....thats like saying i know exactly what better audio is going to release by looking at specs and pics of their original prototype

 

Wow, thanks for the cool link! So has eD just been giving these parameters out by word-of-mouth, or what? The last I knew about their mid was that it was supposed to have a big spike in the 60-200'ish Hz range, but relatively flat above that. Of course, this was coming from SIN. No hard data was provided.

 

It is a prototype, but they have been touting some numbers publicly... and other numbers seem to materialize through the keyboards of those who "have spoken to Ben" about them.

Actually, the comments that Ben has made about them that stuck with me weren't related to any numbers, but rather to his experiences with them.
Very subjective words, and I think that's important to communicate to the public, and honestly commendable by Ben.

Dan's points on the other hand are very objective, which offers a different look into the comparison.
Dan's comments are also commendable in that it sounds like he's really got some experience with the parts involved here, more than simply the Extremis 6.
He's got something very close to hard numbers to compare, and he's careful to qualify his comments appropriately.
Dan's comments really do give you a good feeling for the comparison - without coming off harshly, I think!

But in the same sense, the gauntlet has been thrown...
I'd love to see Ben come back with a response to Dan's comments.

And I'd love to see them truly compared...
I just don't think we know enough about either to do that right now. :blink:

Given your past representations toward eD, I'd say my current opinion of you is quite accurate. But I'm offering you this change to prove to me two things:

You've actually approaced eD to get their side instead of solely taking one source of information and one alone.

You actually look at both sides of the data.

Slapping on a fake smile and saying it's ok isn't what I want to hear, out with it...

Fact is, where they sit right now, it's almost 100% guaranteed that everything that was done, just went back to square one as a new design is being considered from a different build house.

I would also like to see where anything Adire based was bashed, as I've yet to see it?

And again, for the record - the information has been sent to Dan Wiggins, as I did it myself - I have no safe forum and I don't have a problem aruging with him.

Please stop the little war here, accusations about Stephen's intents, bashing CAF, criticizing Elemental supporters, etc.

Josh had some good points on CAF, btw...
The Adire 6" mid is something that's finalized, the plots and figures that Dan specified are no doubt at least close to representative of a production unit.
The eD6" mid is another story.
It's a project that Ben has been working on, and that project is actually on the shelf right now. He's apparently got a handful of prototypes, and he's not yet fully happy with them even.
So making the comparison between the "fully sorted out" (if you will) Adire 6", to the "still sorting things out" Elemental 6" to begin with is not a fair comparison.

I wouldn't really blame Dan for making the comparison, however... since he was quite directly asked to, by an Elemental supporter who seemed to even have a little bit of a cocky attitude, literally throwing the question at Dan.

But let's stay in the scope of this discussion.

Anyone who didn't know that the Elemental 6 wasn't ready for production? Show of hands?
Personally, I thought it was going to be one of those surprises at CES-time... but it appears that's not the case.

And to the defense of Elemental, Ben has stated that to get the 15A's out that everyone has been waiting on, he has had that project on the shelf.

Kephart, unlike you, I don't release information that I'm not allowed to. That's called professionalism, I'm given some of this information BECAUSE I DON'T GIVE IT OUT.

Seeing as how I just got done talking to marshall, looks to me like you acted on your own account - like you do so often.

Now I ask you again Kephart, provide me with some actual proof, instead of standing there whining like you typically do - and I'll gladly change my tune. You continue to avoid these direct confrontations why? Incapable of producing what you are asked to produce?

I must be really dumb because I consistently fail to see the point to this thread... Is this a battle of super mids that are not even available yet? Or is this a tug-of-war betw. ED and Adire believers? I am not sure who is at fault here, the original thread starter (bringing in another thread that appears to be nothing short of mutual mud slinging) or others who feel obligated to defend their brands of choice... And those excursions, LOL, how is this suppose to work in a car install? LOL, glad to see the Christmas spirit is still around...
