Ok so i have been using this JBL amp i bought a while ago for my interior speakers. I did buy it used and i know its now like 10 years old. Anyways ive been using the amp for about a year with no problems and all the sudden i am getting static in the front speakers. I then upgraded to new components thinking maybe bad speaker/wires. Well i installed the new speakers and rewired them and long behold the problem is still there. Except now its not static. It will make a constant poping sound even when the volume is all the way down, and the rear speakers now do the same. Now this isnt always the case, but when it starts it will last untill i turn the car off and then back on, and even then it will continue sometimes. Any thoughts anyone? Maybe the amp just needs to be replaces? ill try to get video when it starts again so you can visually see what im talking about, but any help will be appriciated.

isolators are only a temp fix... really the problem causing it should be determined....

I have seen the popping noise (well, I guess heard the popping noise, huh? ) many times on the older sony HU's (yup.. the good ones did that, too!)

does the noise happen when the car is off, too? (not running with the stereo on)

if this is something that has progressively become worse, then I would think that it would be charging system issues, but to be sure, I would check this:

try running the speaks directly from the HU, bypassing the amp, and see if the noise is still present. Listen carefully, and remember that the slightest abnormality that the HU might be putting out will be amplified by the amp:rolleyes:

if the noise is still present, it's either the HU or the charging system.. if not, then it's the amp, and you should replace it with a comparable JBL amp, because, hey, ... ten years ain't bad, huh?
