So im haveing a big problem here guys heres my system layout i have 2 amps powering my system 1 for the 2 12's and 1 for 4 6.5's. 2 power cables from batt to each amp a split remote signal at amps split ground at amps the signal wires i have from head unit to the subwoofer amp then out of it to the regular speaker amp and obv wires to each speaker. ok heres the problem was working on shortining the wires to everything to make it more neat and tucked away when on the subwoofer amp had the ground off and droped it, it touched the power wire sparked and thats about it no blown fuses anywhere on car or power lines or internal fuses on amp anyways i get done with the wires turn on the system sounds good for about 30 sec then the bass dies out but the regular speakers are working fine i thought maybe a bad wire or something of the sort checked all wires found them all good fuses still good and thought ok i blew my amp . but heres the tricky part, i took a working bazooka amp that was in my other car working great and replaced the old one that i had thought i had blown but same deal all wires on good and stuff but no bump from the subs. yes the sony (the orriginal sub amp) amp has the LED signals on them red for its bad and green for good (im assuming i rember reading it in the book for it) so any ideas guys im stumped here maybe could have it blown something in the subs? and if so what should i look for? ps the subs with both amps have a very very miniscule responce when system is on.
First thing anyone should do when working on amplifiers is to remove the power cable's inline fuse near the battery...simple as that...then there would be no problem if any wires touched.
Well one clear sign is if the sub is siezed up. Take it out...smell it...smell like burnt grundle hair??? than its blown Could be the tinsel lead?? Hell I dunno...removing 8 screws shouldn't be too much work
usually, if an amp quits working, and then you try another, and the subs still don't work, (and you hear a little bit of noise coming from them, but they don't move), that's a good indication that your subs have puked a voice coil. - Meaning that part of the voice coil has come unwound and is impeding that speakers ability to respond to the commands being sent to the motor. I essentially meant that you may have "seized" the subwoofers, and I wouldn't suggest hooking up any more amps to a sub in that condition. are the subs hard to move by hand, up and down? scratching noise present when this is being done?
heh threw my 3rd cheapo amp on seems to be working on subs but apparantly the other 2 amps ( sony and bazooka) are not doing squat i thank you for your help guys not now im not sure what could have the prevesously working bazooka
just be careful that you don't PPPPFFFFLLLLLTTTTTSSSSHHHH that third amp.. sony kickers, huh? did you get them from the same dude that sells the sony zplodes? -lol
