Ive always been told not to mount to your box, any thoughts?

i never do btw, i place them on the rear seats or under seats in cab, or fab a set in for them.

iv only heard not to mount the amps to the vehicle. mount them to a base and then mount the bass to what ever? i dont see what would be the problem mounting to a box except if you take the amp off and dont plug the screw holes might effect the box air pressures? i like to use mounting spacers on my amps to keep them cooler, looks and temp

You Shouldn't Mount The Amp To The Box Bc The Vibrations Will Fry THe Coils. It Even Says The Same Thing In The Manuels To Most Amps...

ive done it both ways, but then again i had one tough azz amp on there so it didnt hurt it one bit.

i can see if the box resonates soo hard it would tear it up,but a solidly built box wont so it cant hurt it.

Nothing wrong with mounting it to a box.

thats exactly what i figured, massive amounts of vibrations have to be bad for any electronic equipment mount near the epicenter

Many of my friends mount their amps on their boxes and they're just fine. Of course each box was custom built by mwah and won't resonate to the point of vibrations.

2 things to consider when mounting an amp to a box.

    1. Vibrations can kill amps. Not all amps. Depends on how they were assembled. Some builders glue and screw down stuff to help it from coming loose, others do not.

    2. makes it easier for someone to get more if your car is broken into. A smash and grab may just be the box and subs, but it will become box, subs and amps if it is mounted to the box.

I had always heard you didn't want to mount to the box due to vibrations as well, however if you go read a few websites (I found it on crutchfield) then it is fine. Usually the vibrations aren't bad enough on the actual box...You can expect more vibrations in various other places in the vehicle.
