so I have 2 12" pioneer 3000 spl subs that are dual 2ohm in a ported box hooked up to a power tekniques 5000w mono amp and as of late the amp cant and wont power the subs... and reading on here I was seeing that the amp probably cant do the job... so I was looking into getting a jl audio 1000/1 amp or a kicker 1000/1 because they go for about 500 bucks on ebay... does anyone have any ideas for something better at that price these subs are in a 2002 bmw 330i with a 120 amp alt and I have a 5farad cap but that can be upgraded if needed... and help with how to wire the subs to certain amps would help too... thanks. I will probably buying anything I get on ebay if that helps...

    Are these your subs??

Pioneer Electronics - Sound. Vision. Soul

power tekniques is a really crappy brand...that amp prolly puts out aroun 500 clean watts...wayyy overrated

My local shop is having a sale on this Pioneer amp for a little under 500 bucks...solid amp

Pioneer Electronics - Sound. Vision. Soul

With a REAL amp not that PT amp...you'll prolly need another battery.

have you upgraded your big three???? If not I'd highly suggest that....top of the list thing to do

yea big three is a must even if not running alot of power i think becasue eventually everyone upgrades

    check out KLUV KUSTOMS

another good choice for an amp SAZ 30000D a really good amp and you can get it for about 825 shipping included
puts out about 3200 watts at 10.7 volts on a 1.33 ohm load so it should easily reach 4KW with a good elctrical system

yea those are my subs... I havent really upgraded much... what I have in the car is an alpine cda-9887 and mb quart components all around... my alternator is stock and battery is too all I got is a 5 farad cap... I know the electrical has to be upgraded but right now I have no amp so my subs are just sitting in the garage... I wish I could spend 900 dollars on an amp... but I cant. max I can spend is like 600.

those are the subs... the electrical will be updated as needed b/c im sure that 5farad cap wont hold up... my budget cant do for 825 dollars... something less sure... could any jl or kicker amp power these subs better than that pioneer amp?

Elemental Designs has there Nine.1 amps on sale for 295 bucks

    Elemental Designs

if you can give it good electrical it can put out up to 1600 watts rms...its not 2000 watts rms but for the price and quality it is a helluva deal.

    I have one...I love it

what is your price range for a new amp??

my budget is like 500-600 max for an amp or two that will make these subs actually hit hard. that elemental designs amp sounds great... two of those would do some damage... I have a bmw and the alt only puts out 120amps and high output alts are expensive for my car like 370 for one... so which would work better a new alt or an extra high amp battery? for now...

Hell the Nine.1's are on sale...you could get two of them and strap them together...full tilt strapped they'll could put out about 3000 watts with good electrical.

I'd say upgrade your big three with 0 gauge or bigger and add another BIG battery in the back.

I have a 120 amp alt i believe and i'm sure I could run two Nine.1s strapped at 2 ohms with an extra big battery in the back

so two of the nine.1's would out do 2 kicker 1000.1 amps with my big battery in the back with 0 gauge wiring all around for power? because the nine.1 and kickers would be the same price.

The Nine.1 amps would be better...they are strappable meaning you only have to adjust one amp and the other amp does the exact same thing so you don't have to gain match both amps.

    I'd take a Nine.1 over a Kicker 1000.1 any day

    Hifonics is overrated

Dan...he has a final load of 2 ohms...either of those amps wouldn't push his subs at all

ohh ok i though he had a final of 1 my bad lol and damn i waanted that hifonics for me lol but since its overrated ill go with the mtx(sorry for the lil thread hijack for a sec lol) anyways ill see if i find something for that ammount of price which i dont think i will...lol

alright so the nine.1's I know come out better than the kickers... but would one jl 1000.1 do anything?

dude get a nine.1! those amps are the **** and for 300 you cant beat it. if you wanna blow your subs from distortion buy one of those dirty kickers. JL is way over priced. eD is a perfect example of why JL is over priced. they have a sub that competes with the w7 and beats it in some cases, for 300 dollars.

well I had gotten a memphis 16-2000d and when I hooked it up... it powered up and then blew... so I got my money back because I bought it from a friend for 300 and change... so I got that pioneer premier 2000spl amp... the sub coils are wired in series and the subs are parallel to one another... so the wires coming from the amp... should be... how?

  16. danracer

    parallel...

wire each subs coil in series then parallel the two subs together...then just wire it to the amp pos to pos and neg to neg
