Amp going into protect mode?

I have a Hifonics BXI 2000D and for some reason occaisionally it will go into protect mode for no apparent reason. I have checked all the connections, everything looks good, I just can't figure it out.

Here are the only two things I could possibly think of...

Could a remote wire cause it to go into protect? The RMT wire coming out of my radio had a female speaker connection on it. Instead of cutting the connection off and using a crimp connection I just jimmy-rigged it and covered it up (basically just wrapped the wire around the connector and covered it).

Also could bad speaker box terminals possibly cause the amp to go into protect? I have jiggled the wire going to my passenger side speaker around and got to to come out of protect (only after the truck is restarted). This might just be a coincidence though.

The amp goes into protect, you have to shut the truck off (essentially turning off the radio) restart it, to make it come out of protect. Every once and a while this is all it takes.

    Any suggestions?

Any type of loose wire will build resistence and will generate heat. Id make sure all of your connections were tight and secure, once thats done and if its still doing it report back.

Sounds like an intermittant short to ground or the speaker wires or shorting togerther. Go through ALL your wiring, including the terminals, speaker tinsel leads, EVERYTHING!!!!

I agree with the rest. Make sure you have the amp grounded at a good location too.
