just picked up 2 JL Audio subs, 12W0v2. $95 each and i had $100 gift card so i couldnt pass it up. Now i just need a new amp. The subs are rated at 300rms each so any recomendations?
heres what im still not sure on. if i get a mono block, would i want one with 600rms since it has 2 subs on one channel? would a 300rms mono block do the job?
yes a 300 rms amp will do the job too. you never need to run a sub right at its rms rating. not sure if this pertains here, but i have the box with my 8's in my house running on 70ish watts. it shakes the hell out of the house now......ON 70 WATTS! (even on low power in my truck...160 watts.... it had good loud enough bass to fill my needs.) if i were to give them the power they had in my truck i would be knocking more stuff off the walls in no time.
heres what im thinking, http://www.cardiscountstereos.com/catalog page.asp?Product+#=GPV10002 , http://www.cardiscountstereos.com/catalog page.asp?Product+#=AP8001D . the audiopipe does 300rms x 1 at 4ohms and the crunch does 250rms x 2 at 4ohms.
what will you be wiring the subs too; 1 ohm or 4 ohm? the crunch will do 500 x1 @ 4 ohms mono. the mono rating of a 2ch amp is usually its 2 ohm stereo wattage. i.e.. 50 x2 @4Ω - 100 x2 @ 2Ω- 200 x 1 @ 4Ω mono. but the crunch has no bass remote and is not flexible; meaning if you want more power later on you can't rewire it like you can the AP800. for the extra money i would go for the AP. or for more power down the road and a little more than the AP you chose.. http://cgi.ebay.com/AUDIOPIPE-1800-...Amplifiers&hash=item5193c1bedf#ht_3539wt_1139
