I have a kenwood KAC-8405 4 channel amp. I didnt push it to hard the first few days but once i got comfortable with it i started to turn the gains up a little.. Rite now i have the front channel at about 1(just over half) and the rear just under 1. All channels are being ran at 4 ohms. When i turn my headunit up to about 52(no distortion) out of 62 the speakers cut out occasionally, well not total cut out but play VERY low, then as the volume comes back theres a static kind of crackle noise from the speakers for about 1 second as the volume comes back up then goes away. Is this me pushing it to hard or another issue? I thought at first the pos and neg input mite be arching because there very very close on the amp and some wire mite have came out but since it only happens at high volume i dont think thats it, i havent gone to check it out yet but id much rather have opinions before i get started.
I've been led to believe that you shouldn't run your h/u past 3/4 volume. So,in your case,46.5.From what I understand, the h/u puts out a clean signal on up to 3/4 and starts clipping or sending a dirty signal past 3/4.I did read your post and understand you hear no clipping, but that's just what I've learned over the years.
the gain is not a volume. try lowering the gain to where it was. if you want it louder, more power is in order. what is the amps power rating?
