i posted alittle while back about getting alternator whine in my speakers. well, i bought a memphis amp now. i put it in and had my ground loop isolators in, i still had alt whine. so i took them out, still had it. my power cable is on the left of the car. my rca's are on the right side of the car. i cant seem to get this problem fixed. someone please tell me what to do.

What kind of car do you have?

If a ground loop isolator did not help we have a problem. But lets start at the beginning anyway. Disconnect any amp and RCA's that you have hooked up.

I want only the radio installed in the car. Is the noise still there?

i went back to work on the pesky noise. i was at circuit city buying new speakers for my chevelle. while i was there i spoke to one of the installers and i explained everything to him. he said to buy these 65$ nickled plated god made rca cables. he said it was a 99% sure fix. i went home and took the head unit out and pluged in the wires and had just as much alt noise as before. i plugged the old rca's back in and packed the 65$ ones back up for return. i had everything apart now and was really starting to get ****ed off and was like lets try to plug the ground loop isolaters back in, but lets try them at the amp and not behing the head unit. it was like magic, the noise was gone! i cranked the amp up to full blast and had less alt whine then when the amp was just barely on with no ground loops. so i adjusted the level on the amp to alittle less than half way, and it sounds awesome.

i didnt think putting the GLI behind the head unit and right to the amp would make any difference but apparently it does. i did have both of the GLI on the old amp i had and it didnt work. i even had the 2 GLI on the new amp and 1 at the amp totall of 3 and it didnt work. well after a weeks of agervation and hours or working on my car its finally done right and soudning good.

just wanted to let you guys know i fixed it finally and thanks for the help from the last trend i had. and one last thing, the 2 GLI that work, they were bought from walmart and memphis amp doesnt have the noise, but the jensen amp did when they were right on the amp.

Are you driving a chevelle?? Have you beefed up the ignition system?Accel, mallory, Msd etc.You might be hearing ignition noise and not alternator whine.
I had the same problem with my Mustang. Once I installed a supercharger I had to update the ignition, I installed a msd 6al box and started having noise in my sound system. They produce a lot of rf noise. The best solution is to install good plug wires, I installed a set of Taylor 10.4 mm wires and made sure to use dielectric grease on all the terminals. No more noise. That may be why you had such a hard time getting the noise out of your system, you were just looking in the wrong direction.
