So my 4-year-old, $60 stereo was stolen last week. LOL Yeah I'm upset, but I move on. So here is my dilema...I have satellite radio, MP3 player and a DVD Player that I would plug into the stereo with a headphone jack-style cable. I'm looking for an alternative to a head unit. I'm thinking like a home stereo, where all of the other components plug in to it, and you control the volume and which component you listen to. I don't need AM/FM radio, or a CD player. Oh yeah, one other catch...it must be inexpensive. $150 or less. So does anyone know if there is a product like this out there?
What mp3 player? If it is an ipod then many brands make nice interface systems. Many also have sat radio interface too. All new HUs have aux inputs.(even the cheap $150 ones^_^) Home audio equipment is made to run on AC. The current in a car is DC. The voltage is also different. A home unit just doesnt work in a car. $150 will buy you a decent HU.
Ok...Thanks for the reply. Now, you couldn't possibly believe that I meant I was going to put a home stereo in my car, could you? What I meant was a piece of equipment, LIKE a home stereo, that I could plug all three (MP3, SAT, DVD) in, at the same time, and have controls to select which one to listen to and a volume control. If it had a remote that would be cool too so I could mount it out of site. I don't want a new HU. I have the stock stereo in the dash and I want it to stay that way. In case you're curious, the stock stereo doesn't work except for the clock.
you could use an eq with aux inputs.ihave an earthquake eq but it only has 2 inputs.i use mine for my cd playerand the other input for my xm unit.
