i have the ED nine.5 and it is a very under rated amp as far as power and flexibility goes. so the nine.1 has to be just as awesome. also ive heard great things about that sub too. they are both perfectly matched for each other.

I used to have two 4 ohm type r's. They cost me 250 or so on ebay new, and that's what they are now. (btw, i didnt get rid of them, got in a car accident and one busted into pieces, so i bought a type x) If they are given 1000 watts rms a pair they will hit way hard enough for normal listening. The amp will vary a lot in price depending if you are wanting to go with name brand stuff or the other that may be just as good. If you can find an amplifer that wouldnt set you over the budget and you aren't afraid to get the stuff on ebay you could get a great system for around the same money, and most likely avoid paying tax. I have bought all my stereo equipment except my head unit on ebay, and i have saved a ton of money!!!!

two alpine type-r 12s would rape a single 13av.2 just because of the cone area difference. The 13Av.2 is meant to take a lot of wattage and sound really good doing it. One will get damn loud though.

it would have to be a pretty big box if he went with a t-line. azn what do you think?

13Av.3 wouldn't handle power too well in a t-line. The Suspension is too soft and only really made to handle rated power in spec enclosures.

Really you can't compare the two. 13Av.2 is SQ oriented low end beast. Type R is very versatile.

The Type R's are money all around...The 13Av.2 is low end only...60Hz forget about it...You are gonna need some serious midbass to keep up with the 13Av.2

So the 13Av.2 isnt a just all around beast? what about the e5.12 or e3.12?

The e series subs are the successors of the ov.2 series so I'd have to assume they're friggin beasts. I'd take a e5.12 over a type r any day.

I'd say the Type R has the best mechanical power handling over the 13Av.2 and the new e.5 series.

But each sub is intended for different applications
