    Hi

I've just finished an install in my Subaru Legacy and was hoping someone could give me some advice on my crossover settings.

I'm running Alpine spx-17pro's in the front powered by a PDX 4.150 which is also bridged to power a ED 13kV2 sub in the trunk.

Obviously I'm overpowering the comps a bit as they are rated at 100w RMS (the PDX is good for 170ish per channel according to the birth sheet)so therefore I'm a little worried about setting the hp point too low.

At the mo the fronts are set using an Audiocontrol DQL-8 at 90hz,sub is also set at 90hz , both with a 24db slope.

I find using these settings that the bass from the sub is pretty localised and noticable from the trunk.

I have lowered the hp to 75hz at lower volumes and found that it significantly reduces the localisation and in general improves the blend but I'm afraid to do so at higher volumes as I fear I will damage the comps.( I had a bad experience with a Boston PRO60 voice coil not too long ago ;) )

I read somewhere that the Alpine pro's have a high xmax/xmech figure and as such would be ok to set as low as 50hz?

Can anyone confirm If it would be safe to run them at this point at relatively high volumes?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

    N.

if you set your gain to the front speakers low you should be fine.
