Has anybody installed a Alpine DVA-9861 along with the XM Radio Interface? What exactly do I need to do get it XM Radio to work with the Alpine? I replaced my Sony MEX-R5 and the XM interface that I already have supposed to work with the Alpine. But, I think I didn't get everything connected to the Alpine. I had the Sony installed by BestBuy but this time I put the Alpine in myself. The Alpine plays my cd/dvd and OTA radio just fine. Just no XM source.
as long as the alpine says XM ready on it, then you can get the alpine adapter and tuner. Crutchfield sells them or most circuit city, best buy will have them. You can install it yourself but if you have not done a lot installs i would let the pros do it cause somtimes it gets hard to install the antenna. Once its installed you change the source until it goes to xm then on channel 1 it will give you an id number, then you just call them or you can do it online, if I remember its cheaper to do it online but you have to wait like 24 hours, but if you call its ready to go in like 2 hours. then all you do is pay for the subscription that you wish to purchase, i think they have like 1 yr up to 5 years if i remember correctly. I love my XM its the bomb, i dont think ive listened to a cd since I got it. If you Alpine does not say XM on it, it will probably be a Sirious unit in which you need to get that satellite service. Hope this answers your questions.
The Alpine DVA-9861 support XM and Sirrus. I already have the XM radio interface in the truck that does support Alpine (it also support Sony which I ditched). The antenna is already installed. I'm trying to figure out where to put the output of the XM radio into the Alpine (the red and white RCA plugs). I'm already subsribing to XM radio (paid 2 years worth). But, now that I got a DVD player that can play my DVD full of music (I have some 1,000 songs on it) without skipping a the head unit crashing (that was the Sony junker). I'm not sure I'll use XM anymore, but I still want it hooked up in case I do want to hear something on XM.
Alpine unlike Sony does not have an RCA input. Alpine radio's require an adapter (made by Alpine) to input a signal from RCA's. I think Alpine calls it a Versital Link or something like that. But if the interface is supposed to work with the Alpine I don't think it would use RCA's as an audio output when the radio has no RCA input. What brand of interface are you using?
